We have to go back. You might not like it, but this was peak performance.
>Windows was fast and snappy, before the bloat and spying came in Windows 10 and 11
>Metro tiles allowed for a quick fullscreen app selection which is much faster and more customizable and convenient than a small start menu
>bottom left mouse brings up fullscreen start menu
>same with windows button
>bottom right mouse brings up desktop

It was so clean, fast and elegant. I miss it. No Microsoft One drive constantly trying to steal and save your data in a data center, no integrated AI, it was a pure new Windows experience, and we need to go back.

Windows 7 was peak performance

Nowadays it's KDE + Linux
>>
Windows 8 was the very start of Microsoft trying to more like Apple. Its entire reason for existence was to try to make Windows a tablet operating system to compete with the iPad.

8.1 anon, 8 was terrible

8.1 was perfect
>>
>>107652824
The full screen app selection was probably the worst thing about it, 8.1 was tolerable when you replaced it with a normal start menu
S
Windows 8 has the honour of being what finally moved me to Linux

I remember fresh installing windows 8 on a ThinkPad ready for my first year of university. That shit was only using 500mb of ram on the desktop. Oh how times have changed. I've seen windows 11 using 8gb on an idle desktop.

>Windows 7 was peak performance

what did 8.1 improve upon? the main thin' it did was bringing back the windows icon in the task bar. which felt like pure bloat, because it added no other functionality.

>>107653304
it is objectively superior
>>
>>107653699
that image doesn't even make sense, in w8 you have to move the cursor way futher to even reach the first tile in the menu.
>>
>>107652841
8.1 was the fastest version of Windows, no matter how much you/anyone hates it it's just factual, it was a debloated & upgraded version of Windows 7, despite the shitty start menu.

32-bit sure is not fast or responsive but eventually it responds until browser tab limit stalls browser
>>
>>107653720
the tiles are bigger. they require less precision which allows you to move the cursor faster.

what the hell is this? Computer for kids?
