i changed my username recently and now i don't have sudo permissions even though i'm still in the wheel group. apparently archinstall sets up sudoers per user and does not apply it to the wheel as a whole. why is that? are archinstall mantainers retarded or is there a reason to do this i don't know about?

// stupid retarded way to do it
/etc/sudoers.d/00_<username>
<username> ALL=(ALL) ALL

// best practice and comfy
/etc/sudoers.d/00_wheel
%wheel ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL

Why do you insist on changing shit for no fucking reason

Take yourself out of wheel or sudo group, whichever it may be.

If you need to get back in, use single user mode, mount the disk rw, and use coreutils to fix your fuckup. Or use a second partition, boot it, use systemd-nspawn to fix it.

There is no reason to fuck with sudo delegation in literally any circumstance. If your distro puts ths default user in wheel, the procedure for deauthorizing is to FUCKING TAKE THE USER OUT OF WHEEL

Better yet dumbass, why not switch to doas?

/etc/doas.conf;
permit jason as root
# permits user jason to run commands as root

And then alias sudo to doas.

Saved you some time monkey moron

Nothing wrong with it

pretty sure OP just discovered something wrong with it, just set shit up yourself so you know wtf is happening

You are meant to install arch yourself, try again.

Because it's not 1995 anymore, you're 30 years too late.

Are you retarded? Sudoers is already a security risk, giving sudo access y default to all current and future users in the wheel group is a disaster waiting to happen.

Ngmi.
>>
>>107656212
Weird shit. Can't recall seeing an installer expand /etc/sudoers into a directory, it's just pointless extra complexity unless you have a whole bunch of users with individual permissions.

Let me guess, you use wayland?
>>

No.

Let me guess: you are one of those retards who breaks the OS install and then blames the OS or the devs.
>>
>>107657681
No. I'm one of the turbo autists who has been using Linux since middle school. I'll fix whatever issues I encounter myself.

trust me, its a skill issue
