This is basically an acquisition where Nvidia gets everything it wants then leaves the parts that it doesn't want, and it's cheaper because regular employees don't get the full acquisition windfall. Same shit Meta pulled when they "invested but didn't acquire" Scale AI, and Scale AI's execs all moved to Meta.
