i'm not a physics expert but is the improvement in airflow noticeable when looking at the thermals? mine has vents on the bottom for the air intake i think
it did for me. Mine's got grills on bottom and vents towards hinge area>with padjust warmcan play games>without padit physically hurts to touch cpu-gpu pipe area, oh yeah you can tell it aparttf2, or anything 3d really, stutters twice a second due to throttling it was a Lenovo thinkbook 15 G4 with alder lake i7, if you want a comparison or whatever
>>107667910Stands make a big difference, yes. Even just using thicker rubber feet can make the laptop cooler, at the end of the day the more air it gets, the better.
>>107667910Jack shit because a laptop is ultimately restricted by 2 main things: A) thermal paste and B) how many watts of heat the heatsink can siphon out. You can control A and use liquid metal (carefully) to gain 5-10C temp reduction or more if they used colgate toothpaste (common in chinkshit). You can control B somewhat by buying a laptop cooler with high speed delta fans but if you want to maintain the slim formfactor benefits of a laptop then changing the TIM is all you can do.
>>107667910Not much. The solution is to buy a laptop that doesn't use much wattage in the first place.
they're just for your cat to sleep under
>>107667910Depends how shit your laptop's design is.
>>107667910It's more for the ergonomics. You might have some benefits, but nothing that major to lose sleep about.
>>107667910A 100%. I built my own many moons ago and it knocked off like 60 degrees right away.
>>107667910My chinkpad has bottom intakes and throttles under high load all the time without a stand. TIM can't do shit if there is zero airflow.
