Pens are technology.

What's a good fountain pen for around 50$?

That's not a fountain pen, that's a 3D pen.
I already have a 3D pen.

guess you're looking at lamy, parker and schaffer. you can also go real cheap and get a platinum preppy and honestly they're as good. it's just that the barrel and body are plastic so you can't screw them together too hard. i've used superglue to patch up mine a couple of times. they're hard to beat otherwise.

Holy shit, this is such a good idea!

you didn't know about 3d pens?
they can be pretty fun.
i use one to make small accessories for my daughters' Playmobil.

Check out the Pilot Prera. I've had mine well over a decade. It has a nice nib, ink flows well, and its durable. Should be around $50 - $75. Its just tiny when unposted.... Something to consider. I write with the cap posted when using the Prera.
My other ~$50 pen that I use all the time is the plain old Lamy Safari. Lamy's fine nibs are more like a Japanese medium and they are inconsistent between nibs. So one fine might actually write like a normal fine, whereas another fine might be even thicker than a medium. Sort of insane people tolerate it, but its my favorite edc pen. Ive never broken one, they just work, and they are inexpensive enough that its not a big deal if you lose it. They're all around comfy.

Alphas love it.
It's kind of fun but everything you print eith it looks like shit.

i buy pens on ali for 30c each. i look at people with expensive pens the same way i look at people with expensive watches -
fudge packers that get railed by random black dudes in public bathrooms.

You sound like you can't enjoy nice and well made things.
I feel somewhat sad for you.
