4chan hasn't updated their security despite the entire chan culture being anonymous. This could potentially put lives in danger, but thankfully it was some trolls and not a serious threat taking the entire website over with outdated adobe reader.

I don't think they really care about optimizing the site.

av1 is very good for file size but very bad for performance if you don't have hardware decoding
