What privacy focused alternative to android should I get? Is graphene a safe bet for the long term? I am also retarded and would like to have things kindof just work. I just need Brave, YouTube ReVanced and A couple other apps like stock and banking stuff. Im trying to decide what phone to buy for it too if you have any suggestions.
>>107675959just get an old school dumb flipphone>muh banking appsyou don't need a "phone app" to do stock trading or banking. stop acting like a braindead zoomer>muh cucktubewhy would you spend your time on a consoomer slopfest of a platform that encourages "content creators" to soiface in their thumbnails?
GrapheneOS is functionally discontinued. Buy an iPhone, don't sign in, turn off Find My and other location services, keep it in lockdown mode, never use iMessage or Bluetooth. You will be invincible.
>>107676004>GrapheneOS is functionally discontinued>source: my ass
>>107675959Graphene just works. I've not had a single networking/nav/gov/banking app shit itself yet, probably due to the ability to lock the bootloader.
>>107676004What to use for on the go navigation tho?
>>107676004>it's off if you turn it off, goy
>>107675959Pixel with GrapheneOS. Listen, 99% of the stuff works, don't believe those shit heads. The only alternative to Graphene is an iPhone, but you lose your app freedom and apple isn't private anymore.>It worksBanking, Anti Cheat Games, Online ID and everything that requires Google Play / Play Integrity, work! You can just create a "Private Space", or a 2nd profile, but a private space is much more convinient, thats like a 2nd appdrawer in your appdrawer, where you can install google shit and once you are done using them, just lock the appdrawer again. It acts like a completely new profile/user with seperate encryption and network. >Werks2Just stick to mainly F-Droid and if you need to: Aurora. Newpipe works great.
>>107676004thisyou are never safe on a phone, this is the safest you will be outside of using military Chinese tech or similareverything labeled as privacy centric is a honeypot
>>107675959>I am also retarded and would like to have things kindof just work. I just need Brave, YouTube ReVanced and A couple other apps like stock and banking stuff.then graphene is not for you, you want a samsung
>>107676004>this schizo againDidn't your last tread die yesterday>>107675959You can sandbox Google Play in a separate profile to use it those apps are aggressively spying on you and profiling with the system's sandboxing stops it. But check if it does work most do>>107676094Organic maps or Android auto and maps can be downloaded>>107676565Ever consider people are just tired of Google and are not criminalsIf you're okay with Google data raping you after the sale I suggest you seek help and get the fuck off of /g/. You're probably that dedicated schizo that makes FUD threads daily probably because you can't afford a pixel
>>107676642>Ever consider people are just tired of Google and are not criminalsI'm talking about adults
>>107676642>>107676548>>107676030Really? Even navigation works? I only buy a phone every 5-8 years and im thinking of getting a Pixel for Graphene. Is it hard to load on? Ive heard stories of Amazon and other sites saying theyre unlocked and can be sideloaded and you get them and theyre locked. Also, im afraid its gonna get axed by Google in a year or two, is that likely to happen?
>>107676548>Just do all those things then use a third party app store which doesn't expose permissions bro you'll be safe bro fr fr bro
>>107675959It doesn't matter. ALL phones are tracking you every couple of milliseconds as long as it's on. You want privacy? Get rid of it, your internet, all credit cards, and move deep into the woods where there are no cameras.
>>107676642>You can sandbox Google Play in a separate profileJust create a private space, it's sandboxed + much more comfy.
>>107676744Yes, it works. You can use graphene like a normal spyware phone. Stick to FOSS apps on your main profile and create a google shit private space.>Also, im afraid its gonna get axed by Google in a year or two, is that likely to happen?AOSP, Android open source project. It's open source, even if google doesn't allow bootloader unlocking on future pixel phones, the current phones will be fine. Also, graphene has a new partner, a flagship phone with a snapdragon.>I only buy a phone every 5-8 yearPerfect, get the 9 or 10 and enjoy 7 years of updates. Google talked about disableing sideloading for apps, that arent signed by a developer account with a real name ID. So cool FOSS apps like Mihon, Newpipe random image board browers won't install. Graphene doesn't have this lock, because Playstore, play integrity and google services don't have more rights than you, they are just normal apps on a pixel.>Is it hard to install? No, it's really easy, easier than installing linux or windows. There are guides, videos etc. Just takes a couple minutes. And depending where you from, just be careful to not buy a phone that is vendor locked. My phone required me to activate wifi, to be able to unlock the bootloader. The thing why google pixels are so great, is that you relock the boot loader after the installation.
>>107676024come on, nowhttps://www.androidpolice.com/grapheneos-to-end-its-pixel-exclusivity/they'll release a phone, stop supporting pixels, no one will buy it, and the project will diethis is what always happens and there's no reason to believe this time will be any different
>>107676892They're not making a phone but getting more OEMs up to their specs. https://grapheneos.social/@GrapheneOS/114721914458186774
>>107676790I need to look into that, I'm still nervous about putting something that close to my main profile plus I'm learning to just use the web version of apps like my bank and Amazon. All my shit posting and other apps stay on main but that's about it.>>107677479I hope it's Motorola desu
>>107675959THERE ARE NO SAFE PHONES. There is no safe privacy-focused OS or phones because the Application OS isn't the only OS the phone is running. All phones run a broadband and a SIM OS, which are almost all controlled by Qualcomm or Mediatek, with some phones having their own proprietary broadband. They are all closed-source, and can read and transmit whatever they want on a kernel level. Even if you have the most le secure l33t le graphene OS, your government can still rape you through your broadband if they really wanted to. Though granted, having your phone set up so that it can't be opened by your typical Cellebrite machine should good enough even if you have 'p, which you shouldn't in a phone because it is downright retarded. If you really want to be as private as possible. Don't use your phone for anything personal.
>>107677962You're a fucking retard which is obvious by the picture you posted. Most people use this to escape google's aggressive behavior and not be data raped by some shitty company. How about you read a more before giving your worthless opinion. ,Also dilate tranny
>>107677989>Thinking you can't be data raped in l33t Graphene OS.lol lmao even . You wouldn't believe the amount of fingerprinting you can get through executing a phone application. You are getting raped regardless if they really wanted to. If you want to browse without being tracked, just get NoScript, Tor, Ublock and a VPN. You can already do this on all phones. In fact, I'm not sure why you would even want to get a stock app, thats just another attack vector you're opening yourself to, especially banking apps which by their terms, will fingerprint the hell out of your device and will require you to share location. Like I said, if you really want to do private stuff, don't do it on the same device you're going to be using your public shit. Dumbass.
>>107678041>mfw when some tranny is giving verbal diarrhea .You're not intelligent, you're a overweight discord groomer in a dress. What part of fuck google don't you understand or are the hormones fucking with your brain? You don't even know what you're talking about which makes you looking even more retarded. You don't even understand the difference between security and privacy which I'm not surprised either. Google accepts the security patches Graphene creates that's how ahead of the curve they are compared to every official vendor, it's the closest to getting the degree of security iOS gets on a android device while pushing google out the way you stupid troon.
>>107678086>moishe thinks graphene OS is actually privateLMAOOOOO
>>107678097Where did I say that tranny?Did I not state my usecase is to give google the finger while having better security than 99% of android phones on the market? How about you read first you retarded faggot
>>107675959A pixel is the best bet for whatever AOSP distro you are going to run (for now at least). It has the best alternative OS support and makes all hardware features available to it. Not many AOSP distros make use of them though.GrapheneOS is the best AOSP distro for most people at the moment. But if customizability and root access are a priority, a different distro may be better for you.
>>107678139Say it louder for the tranny a few post back
>>107678121Don't use a phone at all if you don't want to be fingerprinted by Google and other companies, retard.
>>107678151>Still doesn't get itWhy am I even surprised you're slow.....
>>107678086>it's the closest to getting the degree of security iOS gets on a android deviceWait, is iOS actually that secure? No way, it's the most popular phone. >>107676548Does ReVanced work?
>>107678158Say it without crying spic.
>>107678164Yes they handle security better than android OS vendors by far. Many security patches are far behind and Graphene is currently the only OS that actually keeps up to date with them and even uses the security previews. Now for the tranny here>>107678181He doesn't understand the difference between security and privacy so he's going to say the two is the same. While iOS has better security than most phones it fails the privacy check because apple has been caught scanning users devices without consent in the past. But stock to stock Apple beats regular android in both aspects. Especially in how they prevent third party apps from stealing data something that Graphene does unlike regular android via sandboxing apps.
>>107677801>web version of appsSounds good, do you use an extra browser to create webapps? Or do you use 1 browser for everything?
>>107677962>'pWhat is this?>picrelwhat is this?
>>107678213I do but I typically use brave on a separate user all together, keeps things neat and away from my main profile. I like the idea of separating things between users just for the sake of having less clutter and more self control. It's harder to buy something on amazon if I need to switch to a user and it promotes me doing thing on my desktop more. Vanadium is good but it doesn't block as much as brave, if they could add some adblock to it I would use it more
>>107678208>blah blah blahNo one cares about your autistic semantics
>>107678239He's a tranny that thinks everyone is like him. He can't even understand the concept of basic shit as you can see here>>107678270I accept your concession hopefully you can get the help you need.
>>107678281>He's a tranny that thinks everyone is like him. Thanks, I mean I get it, graphene for privacy first, but security is 2nd. I don't want the airport police to take my fucking phone and read out shit.
>>107678281There are no private phones. You cannot escape data harvest in phones even if you're in GrapheneOS. Retard. How are you so retarded to not understand this simple concept and instead go on autistic tirades about "SECURITY PATCHES PROTECT HURR DURRI M RETARDED". You are the same kind of retard who got vaxxed because the CDC had studies saying how mRNA doesn't stay in the body. Pearls before swine as they say, what a fucking idiot.
>>107678346So what do you recommend then? I'm a 2025 human and I need a phone, which one sir??typing this from an intel me cpu, btw.
>>107678344I view it as security first privacy second a phone by nature is not private at the end of the day. Blocking third party apps like your banking app and Amazon from reading your activities on other apps for data collection and profit falls into security for me, blocking google with it's reckless use of AI is also security to me. Stock android lets these apps get away with murder with how they data mine you>>107678346Just take the L you stupid fucking tranny I'm tired of smelling the puss from your flesh wound
>>107678375If Android, root and delete all google services and DNS block all google services. Use fDroid or Aurora. Your shit is still tracked regardless but oh well. If Apple, use a proton email for apple id, or don't at all. But if you wanna download apps, I think there's other ways to do it. Act as normie as possible. Use emails you wouldn't mind if they were harvested. If you truly don't want to be tracked, use a normal computer OS instead. There's lots of ways to do it, but don't use a phone if you care about your privacy, it's never safe. Phones are just for pretending you're a normalfag. >>107678378>Just take the L you stupid fucking tranny I'm tired of smelling the puss from your flesh woundI accept your concession moishe ashkenazi spic.
>>107675959>>107678375If you can wait for a bit, GrapheneOS will be available on a new OEM phone soon in 2026 (not Google).I am already using GrapheneOS but I'm on a Pixel 6 so I'll upgrade soon. I will probably go for a Pixel 10 if the OEM picked by the GrapheneOS team sucks or is chinese, really hoping it's Sony so I can have my dear headphone jack back.>>107678346>You cannot escape data harvest in phones even if you're in GrapheneOS.I can. I just don't install crap that has spyware stuff. Using Vanadium covers 99 % of needs anyway.>>107678344>>107678378Privacy and security goes hand in hand, you can't have one without the other. The scary thing is that many tards here confuse these concepts for anonymity, which is an entirely different thing on its own.
>>107678451>But if you wanna download apps, I think there's other ways to do it.iOS is pretty much unusable without the App Store, Apple's compliance with EU sideloading requirements is extremely malicious and intentionally useless. The jailbreak golden age is long behind us.
>>107678344I heard pair locking in iPhones stops their cellebrite machines from pairing with them. You can just pretend it's a phone your company gave you and don't feel like opening due your rights or whatever.
>>107676004nigga i just got a new update today.
>>107678806That schizo spreads FUD daily for some reason
>>107676094https://www.magicearth.com/Buy it. It's good. It works with GrapheneOS.
>>107676744Yes, it works fine but you have to pay for it. >>107678996
>>107678208>Yes they handle security better than android OS vendors by far. Many security patches are far behind and Graphene is currently the only OS that actually keeps up to date with them and even uses the security previews. Now for the tranny hereSo iOS is more privacy focused than graphene? Ill buy an IPhone if I can get a replacement for ReVanced or whatever.
>>107678996>subscriptionThat's a no for me dawg Co maps will have to do
>>107679012You have to pay for navigation on graphene?
>>107679064No not by a long shot GrapheneOS is king
He's just pretending to be retarded at this point
>>107679067Then use this https://osmand.net/There is no such thing as free and free navigation apps. Maybe it will work better where you are.>>107679077No, but the free apps are ass.
>>107675959iphone>but sars android is a great valuedon't care, ios is better for security
>>107679124*good and free
>>107679127>don't care, ios is better for securityBut the best security with no privacy is like a solitary confinement cell in a maximum security prison. They know when you goon, what you write, where you move...>b-but ios is p-privacy focusedlol, lmao even
>>107679124I'll use comaps or sandboxed wayze if that fails
How can I trust magic earth?
>>107679189You might want https://f-droid.org/packages/us.spotco.mapsIt's good for location info. I haven't tried comaps, but I had mostly bad experiences with open street maps in the US.
>>107675959There isn't one. Graphite was the closest we ever got, but it was run and maintained by literal schizo.

>>107675959One of the big problems with grapheneos/oem android apps is the lack of caller ID. You don't get to see who's calling you/who you're calling. For like 20 years, every one of my android phones has had caller ID, and going without it is becoming close to a deal breaker for me. Case in point: I had to look for a urologist recently, and I had to call into a bunch of doctors offices to see if they accepted my insurance. After the 4th or 5th call, I looked back on my call log in horror as none of them showed who I called, just the phone number. I have no idea who I've already called, I need to Google their phone numbers and loon them up and cross reference based on my call log, then write it down on a piece of paper. For 20 years now, if I were to do the same on a regular android, it'd show the exact names of every doctor's office instead of just their phone number. Only now did I find out that this is a feature of google's proprietary dialer app, and if you don't have it with full permissions enabled, you can't get caller ID. Also, if you ever need to make a phone call to someone who's not on your contacts list, you need to save their info in contacts, or else when you look at your call log you won't know what the fuck you're seeing. Pretty fucked up that this wasn't mentioned on any of the grapheneos tutorials/manuals, kinda feel like I got scammed. >>107679241Didn't they go p2w recently? Fuck em, use organic maps.
>>107679358Think that's fucked up did you know if you opt out of Gmail's AI collection they no longer sort your emails like primary promotion ect, that was a feature long before ai was a thing but one of the many examples of Google being spiteful for not letting them steal your data
