Another coping strategy from failing to compete in the mobile market

It's overpriced low quality slop. Windows is still awful on tablets and the AI slop over done and forced into everything.

Nothing I quite liked mine. Still use it as a tv/plex computer. Used it about 4 years as my main device. Going on 9 years now. Used it for notes as well. But the price/performance might not be great and the keyboard is meh and flimsy. Might get it again after my M1 mac dies.

Windows aside can you actually do anything with the snapdragon X elite on linux like running local models that won't send all your conversations to mossad?

When I started my current job, the company relocated to a new big building reserved for entirely us, and a major retailer who is owned by the same people. After moving, initially it was a chaos when the company was growing really big but nobody had the mindset/skillset for operating like a real company. One day it happened, that a parcel had arrived, containing something like 5 surface computers. They weren't brand new, seemed like open box but the condition was virtually brand new. Because I handle tech for the company, they just handed it to me. I was confused, I didn't order this shit. I look at the label, it was meant to be delivered to another company, entirely unrelated to us and the address was near but not that near, probably a nigger delivery driver doing the bare minimum and signing it with a scribble. Initially I took it back to the warehouse and told them look this is not meant for us, take care of it. That was that, I thought. 3 months later, while I was looking for some shit I had ordered, it was missing but I started turning stones until I found the box where the surface machines were, it had for some reason been turned upside down so the label was not visible, it was by the trash but nobody had actually recycled them. I opened the box and realised holy shit, there are five of these with all the accessories. 3 months is so long that surveillance cameras are guaranteed to have no footage of them arriving.

I realised then and there, that hey, these are mine now. There is no fucking way I'll return them, but I couldn't sell them either, which was my first instinct since it was not my first time selling stolen goods. Last time my then-employer matched the missing inventory to auctions I had made, I didn't predict they were able to find them but they were despite some counter-measures. Learning from last time, I decided I'll keep one and just sell the ones I have for a heavy discount to family and friends. So I sold them and made about $1k.

My surface pro 7 was a great piece of hardware that helped me get through university. The screen tablet is great too. After I finished college I tried putting Linux on it, it gimps the screen tablet functionality and the cameras don't work and will likely forever be unsupported (see https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=32518882). It was a shame since the fans whine horribly on Windows unlike on Linux which made me end up hating it. Like >>107683824 said I would not buy the new ones for those reasons unless you want a deprecated CleverBot machine. Even when I first got the device it had an issue for WiFi drivers for the first few months that clamped download speeds to 1mb/s. It was a great piece of hardware held back by software.
