i feel like the term operating system isent a good name, i dont know why we use that term. its confusing to anyone who knows about tech. cus its way too broad to describe multiple layers that have little correlation
theres the kernal,
thread scheduling
system apis
init systems
runtime libraries
utilities
shell
user interface
etc...

i think maybe a good name is maybe program enviroment and native integrated systems.
