Do you tighten the screws on your media cables, /g/?
>>
>>107689808
I never tighten the screws on VGA cables, always end up having fucked up color after some time, and then tighten the screws to fix it
>>
>>107689808
one you get to work with tech illiterate middle aged women you will learn to tighten everything and fix everything to everything so that you dont have to do troubleshooting for these fucking creatures
>>
>>107689808
Just tighten one of them 2/3 of the way
>>
>>107689808
no, i'd rather the plug yank out than the whole fucking monitor come crashing down if the cord gets tripped over.
>>
>>107690050
this guy gets it
>>
>>107689808
The last time i had a monitor that used that cable, the dress was white and gold. Now my phone or new monitors, the dress is blue and black.
>>
>>107690020
This is the correct way to do it.
>>
yes, because I don't want to ruin the extremely rare and hard to find monitor the thing is connected to, and i'd rather not buy another startech adapter if this shit falls and the cable yoinks out.
>>
>>107690004
this, at work i'll do it every time but at home i usually dont

>>107690479
>cable completely unsecured
>has no retention other than those screws
>a cable getting "yoinked" would damage it
>anon is so technologically inept and physically retarded he can't repair a cable even if it did
>implying modern office grade displays don't still have VGA anyway
>implying 00s era monitors aren't practically free
peak larp, you have never seen one of those irl in your life
>>
>>107689808
>Tighten the screws by hand, can never get proper leverage, screwdrivers all torque out of the cheap shitty plastic
>Unscrew the VGA cable and put it away
>Try to plug in a new VGA cable later, but for some reason one of the screws won't tighten
>Look at port and it's missing one of the standoffs
>Need to run a full inquisition to find the cable that is guilty of standoff theft and then somehow get the jammed, more likely cold-welded standoff off and put it back in, despite only being able to hand grip one end without mangling the plastic
I like them in theory, but in practice they're so incredibly horrible.
>>107690050
Don't turn your cables into tripping hazards then.
>>
>>107690580
good cables are metal screws with just a coating or plastic cap

also you can just buy standoffs. it's a pain in the ass to buy like 200 of something when you only need 1 but also 200 of them is 13.67 off digikey

look at you, impressing all the ladies with that strong compensator energy. I'm sure everyone's very impressed!
