People like to larp that they like/use it because its so minimal and the repos are anorexic. Its a psychological coping mechanism for an unfulfilling life that they feel that they can't control when you have so many moving parts in your life and society and can't control any of them its comforting to have a piece of software that by nature does exactly what you tell it to and is minimal and bare bones.

How well is the Thinkpad X13s supported? I'd like to try OpenBSD for everyday use but my desktop has an NVIDIA GPU and I don't think OpenBSD supports CUDA, Wine/Proton/Steam, etc.
