Has anybody here used elementary os? if so, what is your opinion? I plan to install a new distro and this one seems interesting.

It's macsexual, so you don't have to take BBC to the mouth and anus, but you do have to take some varying size of BBC to the mouth and anus.
>>
It's ok, you're better off installing Kubuntu, getting a global menu and a dock, and doing that instead, if you want a Mac-like desktop.

It has some interesting features but it's basically Ubuntu LTS with flatpak support ootb (sorta) and a custom theme and DE that's forked from GNOME components.

Not worth downloading for a fee, but try it out for free (set the $ to 0) and test it out, see if you like it. But it's certainly not the best distro.
>>
i found it maximally comfy but i use emacs so DE is largely irrelevant
>>
sucks
slow
KDE plasma 6.5 is faster
KDE pasma 6.5 is better
Elementary store sucks, has paid apps.
Dev is a libtard sjw troon
>>
I installed it on my grandmothers computer more than 10 years ago so she´d stop getting viruses
>>
It's stinky, get KDE instead

Seems like the project lost momentum from the co founder leaving. It's one of the most cohesive and thought out distro/DEs ever made but I don't know what the end goal is. They're not apple, they're not making their own hardware, so what's the point of dick riding apple's design? I prefer KDE.

I always support any open source project that focuses on user experience since I believe Linux is sorely lacking in this regard. That said, I used elementary for a good while and I think they move at a glacial pace and their team has suffered some personal drama. So I don't know how much longer they can maintain their project

lmfao

I've never used anything other than Debian and Devuan so I wouldn't know

a nice project. IIRC they have their own platform library libgranite for gtk4, essentially what libadwaita is to gnome.

Pretty much this is all you have to know. It's really a shame because I enjoyed EOS a long time ago. Very comfy because I don't like to rice and have no need of choice like that. I found out the Dev was a troon when the inevitable troon sperg out occurred. very sad.
