Ubuntu is the recommended system for nvidia Sionna and most of other frameworks and proton works on it already.On the other hand I use GNOME and I'm bored by it. KDE plasma looks cool. I'd recommend a rolling release distro instead, if HDR support is mandatory. If HDR is still sketchy with 26.04, you'd be stuck with it until at least the next point release or even until the next LTS release. Also, your options of desktop environments are more limited on Ubuntu right now. KDE still ships with Plasma 5. Just for reference: Plasma 6 was officially released in 2024. Again, rather use a rolling release distro.
