I think most of the Internet now is just trash. We have maybe 4, maybe 5 websites that we actually use. If we need to google something we're gonna just end with AI slop generated by a prompt like "write me an article about x. try to be objective. optimize everything to SEO standards." I don't need that crap popping out. I just want the information. And there's nothing fun to actually do when you don't have to do something specific.

It's give or take for me.
As an actual resource it's still stable for now. You're right about the AI generated articles, but a lot of them are still fairly easy to spot. I do actually kind of like some of the AI summary features like the one on DuckDuckGo because it will list the sources it pulled from. Good enough for simple questions, like today I asked "what is the best temperature to wax my car" and it showed me a summary without having to click through multiple websites.
I do miss the old internet forums, but if I'm being honest with myself, a lot of them are still out there, but I still choose 4chan because imo it's objectively better for most forms of hobbyist conversation (IE no personal drama or special treatment).
This might be a hot take but I think we're in the golden age of home made entertainment. With so many people now on Youtube you have a lot of really niche hobbies getting some really good video content. Hell, I got into aquariums again because there were a few Youtubers I found who showed how cool the hobby was and weren't major channels by any means.
There's a lot of bad things about the internet now, but there's still some good.

The internet is not used for unlimited access to the world's information
