https://x.com/BrendanEich/status/1948500509570023575>Brave Origin, for a modest monthly fee (pricing not final; discount for annual) get Brave w/o sponsored images, rewards, VPN/wallet/Leo in toolbar, etc. No telemetry just updates vs. 0day security bugs.Based Brendan does it again!
>>107701775They should've done this from the start, even 5$ monthly from 1000000 users or so should be enough for running their pretty modest team
>>107701875Of course, people are desperate to pay to use a web browser, that would have gone great.
>paying for Chromium-fork #242
>>107701913You know what you're a little right they needed to build reputation first then they can monetize, they wouldn't have walked far without vc money either way

>>107701775I'm pretty sure this is implying a version where all of that is ripped out/off by default for lazy mfs?
VC companies breathing down his neck
>>107701775If this becomes mandatory to hide all tbe bullshit I'm moving to ungoogled chromium. I should have already.
>>107702893Too early for that, I think they're just being cautios
Suspicious use of the word origin when ublock origin is Brave's main competitor.
>>107701875>>107701775>our browser sucks and has a very small market share, we're not gonna fix some of those silly drawbacks we're gonna ask for money when all browsers are free, smart ey?!
>>107702893>You can already turn them off or can you? OOOhh you see, why would we ask for money then?! Oooh! Some smart shit!

I like this solution to the browser dev sustainability problem. Only selfish manchildren think devs should maintain browsers for free.
Hardened firefox just werks. And blows out of the water whatever you're using. It's as easy as copying the pref.js file from librewolf and pasting it on whatever firefox fork you wish to use. I use Zen browser on my Fedora machine and it just werks and looks dope.
