You're driving small sites out of businesses. Do you want to have to PAY to use these sites?
>>
>>107706337
if your business relies so heavily on spamming me with ads to stay afloat, you deserve to go out of business. I'll just switch to one of the 5 million other competing services.

Maybe it's time for you to change professions

I paid to use whatsapp before, I would pay for a site that's worthy.

OH NO, NOT HOMOSEXUAL BLOGSPOT WEBSITE IN A BOX #6678990 WHY I COULD LOSE ONE OF THE MILLIONS OF SHITTY PROCEDURIALLY GENERATED WEBPAGES THAT ALL SAY THE SAME STUPID SHIY FROM MY SEARCH RESULTS!
>>
>>107706337
Add this to your custom filters in ublock origin, it prevents youtube from counting your view count on videos.

Whip out your cock faggot. I'm sure someone will suck it for money. All ad spammers must fucking die by AIDS or fire. Your choice.

For every one person that uses an adblocker there's like a thousand normies who will gladly browse a website covered 2/3 in ads with an occasional pop up that makes you work for the close button.

This assumes people actually click ads. I guarantee you nobody in this thread right now has ever seen an advertisement on a website and thought, "hey, let me investigate this further. I may want to buy this product" and clicked on the ad. It's never happened.
>>
>>107706642
>The fact that showing ads is even viable as a business model is an abomination.
lol wtf? Ads have been the primary business model of the internet since it was introduced to consumers. Most if not all your favorite nostalgic old websites from the only existed to earn ad revenue.
>>
>whit out ads
fuck off jeet not gonna pay for your reskin.
>>
>>107709130
Ad services pay out for more than just clicks. Views alone pay, so does every time a user hovers their cursor over the ad. The longer it's viewed/hovered, the more it pays. Of course a click is the ultimate prize, but nobody clicks ads like you said. The fact that people saw it and might have engaged with it by hovering their cursor is enough. Not only are these interactions with the ad, they are data about user interactions with that specific ad. All of this information is valuable enough for advertisers to pay for. The next thing is eye tracking, which is already out there in things like retail display screens. Soon they'll allow the same data collection on smart devices that will tell advertisers how long you actually look at an ad, which part of it, what your expression is like, etc. This will lead to an unprecedented boon for the industry as every smartphone user becomes a 24/7 voluntary test subject.

by changing the autoplay setting for youtube in your browser?

If you rely on ads to support yourself, then maybe you should get a job and close down your useless blog?

IF YOUR BUSINESS DEPENDS ON SELLING ADS - YOU DO NOT HAVE A BUSINESS!

I reset cookies often so I usually gets turned back on, is there anything to automatically turns it off or am I out of luck?
>>
>>107706337
sorry matey but every time I've disabled adblock to give sites the 9999th chance it's been fucking cancer, find another revenue stream
>>
My terms are this: you'll get an unblock when you prove you're willing to curate ads that don't abuse or ruin my patronage to your site.

No one does this (or at least expect the user to go through the trouble of reporting annoying or offensive ads to the site host to have them dealt with), so fuck off.

You know what clientele your website serves and you should know what sort of advertising fits in with that brand image. Instead sites just use advertising as the end itself (make money simply by selling ad space) rather than a means to an end (supporting hosting costs). It makes sites unusable and, in worse situations, actively harmful to what I'm comfortable with as an Internet user. It's very much "set-and-forget" for the site host and the intermediate ad networks keep passing the buck and denying they had anything to do with what is presented if you try to take them to task on what you encounter.
>>
>>107706337
Do they own any of the video they stream, or have rights to broadcast it? It's thieves whining about thievery.

Small sites are dead to AI anyway.

Sorry, but if I have the choice between watching ads and the service I use dying... the death of the service is a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

I'm willing to pay money instead, but only if that means you actually respect me and stop tracking me (which I why I won't buy YouTube Premium)

internet wasn't a place for making money, but for sharing data
the money peple took their paws on it and enshittified it with ads
that doesn't mean that it was supposed to make money
the internet was people's blog sites, not commerce
ads shouldn't exist, nobody clicks them, everyone hates them, it's like a smell of poo in public space
and ad blockers are air purifiers
>>
>>107713238
>internet wasn't a place for making money, but for sharing data
It was only introduced to consumers to make money. There was no other other incentive to make it public.
>the internet was people's blog sites, not commerce
Which were hosted on blog platforms that only existed thanks to ad revenue
>ads shouldn't exist
Without ads your nostalgic "blog sites" would never have existed
>>
>>107706337
No. My website costs me money every month, and I make money by selling an actual product. If you have nothing to sell, throw up a dono link, and MAYBE I'll toss you a fiver if I use your service. Otherwise, get fucked.
>>
Fun fact Wikipedia has had over a billion dollars in donations over 25 years and they STILL have begging donations.

Meanwhile Microsoft were giving out encarta discs with every computer for free.
>>
How much could it cost to host videos?
>>
>>107706337
>Subject yourself to digital vandalism or else
>>
>>107713362
some people just wanted to share something with others and hosted it themselves
like personal sites, not necessarily blogs
the blogs platforms just made it easier for people with less technical skills to do that
people paid money to host their stuff, not for earning money
it was only later that people started expecting money from hits on their sites
and then more people started hosting stuff with that intention
the OG people hosted stuff without an expectation of getting something out of it
to this day people do this for their niche sites, a simple distro site or phpbb forum is just like that
we used to make phpbb forums to talk with others about our shared interests, there was no money involved
>>
>>107706337
Sites are basically free to run, if they want to make a profit then fuck them.
