COMMON LIES BEING PERPETRATED BY TROLLS AND SHILLS ITT DEBOONKED 1/2

>RADEON HAS BAD DRIVERS!!!
They have been fine for years and have the same amount of problems that Nvidia drivers have or less. Most problems occur with productivity applications which is why Radeon gpus are not recommended for workstations. If you are just gaming you are unlikely to ever have any issues, especially if you only update to the latest driver when you need to.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lv4-poQOyo

In contrast for the first few months Blackwell had major driver issues that are only now mostly fixed. Premium day one GeForce buyers that paid the nviditax had a worse early adopter experience than Radeon buyers.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTXoUsdSAnA

>RADEON HAS CPU OVERHEAD!!!!
It does not. Nvidishills likes to spam charts of cherry picked DX 11 games like KCD that do not play well with radeon but in reality if anything Nvidia has a worse overhead in CPU limited scenarios. Screenshot and videos below for proof.
https://imgur.com/a/A5MIHM6

If your motherboard has error readouts that can tell you exactly what it's doing (or trying/failing to do) then look those up and see what it says.

If not, boot into the BIOS and try running your RAM at basic JEDEC settings, not XMP/EXPO.

>FSR4 IS IN NO GAMES!!!
Almost every game that has upscaling can be easily modded with Optiscaler to support FSR4. The result is better than native image quality in games with bad TAA. Cyberpunk 2077 before native support was added could be modded with Optiscaler, the game can run ultra RT at 80-90 fps and 50-60 fps pathtracing with good image quality using FSR4 on quality mode.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNzI-TBV--A
https://github.com/cdozdil/OptiScaler

Native FSR4 integration will get better into the future with many games planned to have support added this year. Because of AMD's collaboration with Sony on Project Amethyst and PSSR it's likely that all future games with a console release will have FSR4 on PC.
https://www.pcgamer.com/hardware/processors/the-amd-x-sony-collab-gave-us-fsr4-and-a-version-will-appear-in-playstation-next-year-too-having-already-started-to-implement-the-new-neural-network-on-ps5-pro/

>ZEN 5 IS MELTING ON ASROCK!!!!!!!
There is no conclusive evidence for what the cause is yet. Zen 5 and the 9800X3D in particular have sold very well and most people haven't had any issues. It's possible there was a bad batch of processors and ASRock motherboards have BIOS settings that are worsening the problem, or the fault may entirely be with ASRock, there isn't enough information to make any kind of conclusion yet. For now just avoid ASRock boards to be safe and you will likely be fine like the thousands of other people who have bought and used these CPUs for months with no problem.

I don't know too much about hardware other than what they general do and where they go on a motherboard, but I'm assuming ram generations are also different internally and not just different on how they slot in. I think that's why they even change how they slot in because they don't want someone slotting in the wrong type of ram into the motherboard. Could be wrong though. I'm sure someone else here knows more on this situation.

Do I just bite the bullet and get 32 gigs of ram for $150 and stay at 32 or cope with a single stick of 32 at around $170 and get the other stick when/if the ram goes back to normal? Oh how I wish I were not so financially responsible and bought everything 3 months ago. My i5 12400 is struggling with the unoptimized games I am playing. I guess I can just wait but where is the fun in that

No, RAM is a cheap product that's always been cheap. The only reason why it's expensive for right now is because some asshole globalists need a temporary RAM bennies surplus package. It will end once the retards figure out DDR6 will be next and firesale all that RAMfor faster furry porn genning platforms.

It's not even for the AI itself so much as it is for all the serverboxes needed to run cloud shit for ignorant normie subscribers.

No, I initially used UPSIREN PCM-1 initially; a well-known alternative. It's working fine with my CPU after applying the same to that. Currently, my GPU die has FEHONDA TG-8 in it that I used for testing die contact/adhesion before giving up.

>Lapping
I haven't tried this yet. It's an interesting prospect, but I'm not sure how I should go about making it truly even. Do you have any advice or resources on this topic I can reference? What grit do I go with? I'm guessing that either the heatsink or the die may have some sort of warping/flex or curvature issues...so this may make sense. I'd imagine lapping the fucking die would be a nightmare if even practically possible, but the heatsink should be feasible.

lapping at home will not get you a perfect surface, it's an old meme we used to do years ago, but worth a shot if you have nothing left to try.

you'll have to google it though, like i said it's been years, the last time I lapped anything it was for an Athlon heatsink.

By proxy yes it's for the AI. The RAM is for the servers linking them and the other shit to users. Having more RAM doesn't increase the speed of AI, it increases the amount of workload it can take at once which is what you need when linking both users and AI servers to each other. This is why the second a faster RAM comes out they'll start buying that up.

The chinks aren't gonna compete with Nvidia flagship stuff for some years yet.
But, AMD is probably gonna be BTFO for gook prices.

Well, I'm pretty sure I managed to cook my wife's CPU (i5 13600k) letting it run simulations for grad school. Using psensor it was keeping around 65 C and would have occasional spikes to around 85 C. This morning it started consistently running at 85 C and spiking to 100 C every 20 or 30 seconds. On a scale of 1-10, how fucked is it?

The real problem is generally anything above 8000Mhz requires "Gear 4", which would be slower than 7200Mhz RAM running in "Gear 2".

It likely wont matter unless you're doing something specific that can use it.

well even amd has nothing to compete with the higher end of the nvidia offerings, the best they can do is match the 5070ti at the moment and it took them a while to catch up (as usual). seeing any competition in that midrange is going to be a problem for amd, especially if intel keeps improving it's game.

Do you have room for studio monitors? If so, ignore basically any consumer brands and just get a set of decent and cheap 5 inch monitors like the Yamaha HS5's or Adam Audio T5V's.

If not, just get whatever overpriced consumer tech seems decent. I've heard the audioengine A2's are good (though, they are more expensive than a pair of Adam Audio T5V's which sound way better) and will work for a much larger variety of applications since they are spectrally pretty flat.

>>
>>107707709
I also bought a better case because the case it's in (Asus ROG Z11 which we were given for free) looks really pretty but it's thermals are total shit. I went with the asus ap201 because ive had good luck with those in the past and they aren't crazy. When I drop it into the new case I'm going to replace the cheap rando-brand AiO that's on it with a phantom spirit.

If the new case with better thermals, new paste, and a better cooler don't fix it then it's probably cooked, right? I guess I could just chuck the 12600k thats in my computer now in there and use that as an excuse to get an AM5 CPU/Mobo while they are still sort of cheap? (Already have ddr5 hanging around so that's not too big of a deal).

You don't need CUDIMMS for those speeds, see >>107707756
But I guess if you NEED 4 DIMMs and your IMC isn't great or your motherboard isn't great, then it is what it is.

I'd personally try to get 7000-7200Mhz CL34/36 or similar, that increase in bandwidth is more than worth the small latency tradeoff.

Even just going from 6600mhz to 7200mhz is a whole lot better for modern 200 series intel. You're essentially trading in ~3% worse latency for ~9% more bandwidth.
