first of all; what programming language?
if you are racist i guess it's not python nor rust.

C/C++:
fuck M$'s build system switch to CMake or meson.
for GUI learn QT (GTK still has too many compatibility issues).

web dev:
no difference.

C#:
say good bay to .NET framework, it's only supported on spydows.
everything else works just fine*.

java:
no difference.
