You use a kernel whose primary devs are the NSA, Red Hat and Google lmao

It's the only operating system that's still actively developed for the supercomputers of the Heavenly Sovereign.

Wine on FreeBSD is as good as on Linux

I have steam loaded via mizuma (https://codeberg.org/Alexander88207/Mizutamari) and it's able to play most of the games I have tried

Jokes aside, what's the actual problem with freebsd?
>>
These threads are just 80% OP asking questions to farm engagement. Look, OP. If you like BSD, that's fine, but these threads always die because the engagement is so anorexic. Nobody uses BSD. The copy pasta you make this thread with is just repeating the same exact websites over and over and over again, Again, because there are so few resources because nobody uses it. There's no interest here.
>>
>>107709086
I'm interested so back off

Is OpenBSD a decent alternative to debian?
>>
>>107709132
Great job refuting literally nothing I said OP.
>>
>FreeBSD maintains a clear separation between the base system and third party applications and therefore this affects where the configuration files of these applications are located.

>FreeBSD base system configuration is located at the /etc directory, and the /usr/local/etc directory contains all the configuration files of the applications installed on the system through the ports collection and packages.
Why doesn't any Linux distro do this. Not even OpenBSD keeps system configuration that clean.
>>
>>107709141
Hi OP
>>
>>107708711
this is retarded. truth is there would be no free desktop if gpl didnt exist, because bsd is a cuck license
>>107708737

freebsd

couldn't get wayland to work (nvidia).
couldn't get my trackpad(apple magic trackpad) to have 'tap to click', 'two tap to right click gestures'.

gave up for now.
>>
>>107709169
Everyone does
GPL is only there to ransom money from big corporations in case their source code leaks
>>
>>107709141
NetBSD's approach to this is better. Third-party software is installed in /usr/pkg, and /usr/local/ is reserved for software not installed by pkgin.
>>
>>107709222
the main goal is to prevent those corporations from infinitely improving the software and providing it as a proprietary alternative that everyone will inevitably rely on
preventing them from using gpl code is impossible to enforce not to mention they get a slap on the wrist at most if exposed
>>
>>107709236
Nice. I would try it but I need WINE

bsd larpers are nocoders, who got surprised?

They don't
GPL communist nocoders can't comprehend that if I can see their code then it belongs to me and there is no way for them to enforce otherwise

every freebsd devs' and devs' of bsd licensed software dream is to get hired by a corpo that benefits from their bsd software. it's a slave/cuck relationship.
>>107709313
because it's your code? I understand the concept of ownage and right isnt well understood by a cuck.
>>107709327
you debunked yourself at the beginning of this thread by saying how linux gets a lot of commits from big corpos because gpl makes them. freebsd gets a few commits here and there and nothing else. the worlds biggest software corpo apple uses bsd userland and they donated 5$ to freebsd foundation lol. how funny even in a 5 post conversation bsd users out themselves as nocoders and sub 90iq retards
>>
>>107709291
netbsd is abandoned though
>>
>>107709135
most likely, depends on the goal however

this is a bit annoying, especially with their use of chroot and symlinks to /etc files
>>107709202
>couldn't get wayland to work (nvidia).
did you rtfm? https://docs.freebsd.org/en/books/handbook/wayland/
>couldn't get my trackpad(apple magic trackpad) to have 'tap to click', 'two tap to right click gestures'.
this is perhaps a bit of xinput tinkering away from working, I know I have had to do some things in xinput to get my laptop's trackpad to behave a bit more like it does in windows
>>
>>107709351
>good luck...
so you admit being a cuck? what kind of argument is that?

just a month ago some company from my country got fucked over using gpl code and not sharing the source, fyi.
>>
>>107709266
Wine is available in pkgsrc but it's out of date. I need to update it.
