10yrs ago even high end GPUs were sub-$1000 (1080ti launch price was $699 and this was already considered excessive), you'll just pay more and more for the same things that used to be cheap because you still NEED and want a gaming PC and you'll pay whatever they ask you for. It's part of the slow, managed collapse of western economies, where things that used to be common consumption become luxury goods.
