What (non-game) software did you pay money for instead of pirating and it was perfectly worth it?
WinRAR
I think MakeMKV, and just because they were dedicated to firmware cracks
>>107717092I bought droidcam (the old one) I use it still today. Was cheap.
>>107717092Removing ads in a mobile photo editing software that's made by one dude. Was $3.49 I think. I like it and I've used it for over half a decade.
>>107717092Simply the best there is.
>>107717092AATools from G-Lock Software (high quality aio network tools) and the Intel C compiler which produced massively optimized binaries (FastMame being a flagship example).
>>107717533>Intel C compilerThis isn't actually different than LLVM nowadays right? I thought once they merged OneAPI into LLVM Intel just rebased their compiler onto LLVM.
>>107717546Honestly I have no idea. Back then the improvement was massive. Today, who knows.
Titanium backup (rip), Root explorer and torque. On pc I can't think of the top of my head any software I've paid for other than games.
>>107717092One of the cheap VST plugins from spitfire audio. Epic strings I think.Normally ~$30, they sent a coupon for like $7 or something (I've uses the free ones in the past so they have my email).I have yet to use it, so no.IDK how people in audio production tolerate the software side of things. It's mostly insanely expensive, has draconian restrictions, and is flat out bad more often than not.
>>107717092Microsoft Office 2024. I need it for work. My company gives you a Microsoft 360 account for free but fuck cloud shit. Having a perpetual license that I can run offline and isn't limited by the cloud was worth every penny.
>>107717092Gemini pro Idk I haven't touched it since finals
>>107718249Oh god I just checked the site for the first time in a couple years and they've had some sort of corporate restructuring. The free ones are now bundled in a separate plugin called "INSTRUMENT" (capitalization is part of the name). These people cannot be taken seriously. If you can't download it DRM free and use it offline, it isn't worth it. I'd be reluctant to use even the "free" ones since who knows if I'll be able to open the project files after a few years.
>>107718251You can still get the 2021 version on certain sites for $30 and it's literally the same shit.oolr you could just switch to Mac they made alternatives to ms office
I don't think I have paid for software outside of Steam Games and subscriptions like Netflix, Spotify, Amazon Prime and whatever that Nintendo Live subscription is called.Software I have cracked in the past is Windows, MS Office and more specialized software I needed to use once or twice (back-up software or graphical editing software like PhotoFiltre (because I am too retarded to understand how Photoshop works))
>>107717092the only piece of software i have ever paid for that wasnt a video game was 3dmark and it was on sale for 5 bucks or somethingit wasnt worth it
