I know jack shit about computers, but I need a small, durable laptop for college. Ideally, it would have a long battery life, be lightweight, and survive at least five years. It's going to go through a lot of abuse, but I mostly just need it for the internet and a word processor. Maybe some light photo and video editing. Is there anything under $250 that isn't shit? Thanks
No
>>107717824Theres a reason why 90% of people use macbooksonly exception is if you need CAD which are winblows only for the most part, get a stinkpad or dell, they suck dick but there’s not much you can do about it>$250get a job
Get a used 2015 MacBook Air 11 inch from Amazon. 2015 is the last year Apple produced laptops in that form factor. It'll be a little sluggish on macOS so install a lightweight Linux distro like Arch Linux on it.>InternetFirefox>Word ProcessorLibreOffice>photo editingGimp>Video editingOpenShotTrust me OP
>>107717842>90% of people use macbookslol, lmao!
>>107717917In college? Probably more than 90% and it’s been that way for a while
thinkpad. get a cheap old thinkpad and put all your shitty school docs on google docs. save your money. computers are a waste. if you want to game just play indie shit or league of legends.
>>107717842Not mine, most have some cheap Dell or Surface. Then I whip out my big, fat ASUS gaymen laptop with Fedora and Windows dual boot with a pair of brand new fans that can really move some air. Pretty sure the girl next to me was giggling at my laptop sounding like a jet engine when faggot-ass Windows started updating in class a few weeks ago.

>>107717899>linuxIn college you’re supposed to learn and network, not troubleshoot your wifi issues and tweak your bashrci have fedora on my desktop but id never use it on a laptop in college
>>107718066>troubleshooting isn't learning>talking with the other Linux students isn't networking>id never use it on a laptop in collegeBecause you'd get filtered
>>107717917>>107717964>T. Larping as someone who went to college
>>107718084>Because you'd get filteredNo, you'd get filtered. By your competition who has working equipment to directly accomplish their goals rather than getting lost in a thousand side quests.
>>107718084> the other Linux students all 3 of them
>>107718104Oh look, it's a NEET projecting on the internet.
I did my bsc in denmark and msc in london and pretty much everybody used a macwindows / linux if usually fine but the moment you’ll run into some issues you will get a shrug because not only will the instructor not care, he probably couldn’t help you even if he wanted to - at bedt he knows some python and how to use venv and that’s about it.In contrast when something fucks up on a mac you won’t be the only one with that issue so it’ll get solved efficientlybeing a special snowflake isn’t worth it in school
