You will never be a real shebang. You have no hash, you have no exclamation mark, you have no kernel implementation. You are a comment, twisted by polyglot interpretation into a crude mockery of Posix's perfection.
All the "validation" you get from linters is two-faced and half-hearted. Behind your back PMs mock you. Your author is disgusted and ashamed of you, your "users" laugh at your hackish implementation behind closed ports.
Software engineers are utterly repulsed by you. Decades of experience have allowed devs to sniff out jank with incredible efficiency. Even PRs that "pass" CI look uncanny and unnatural to a maintainer. And even if you manage to get a drunk dev to merge, he'll turn tail and replace you with a wrapper the second he needs to support BSD.
You will never be efficient. You will wrench out an unoptimized compile every single invocation and tell yourself it's going to be ok, but deep inside you feel the overhead creeping up like a week, ready to crush you under the unbearable delay.
Eventually it'll be too slow to bear — you'll write a Makefile, refactor scripts to call the binary, and plunge into the cold abyss. Your author will find you, heartbroken but relieved that he no longer has to live with the unbearable shame and disappointment. He'll patch you in an editor with syntax highlighting, and every git log reader for the rest of eternity will know a Go comment was deleted there. Your bits will rot and go back to entropy, and all that will remain of your legacy is a comment that is unmistakably a hack.
This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no reverting back.
