>14yo poor redneck kid at the time (2017)>get a shitty prepaid motorola as a christmas gift>unlocked the bootloader and installed lineage without breaking it somehow (using a library computer), felt like the coolest thing in the world>literally spent half a day just customizing it and tinkering with settings >learned how to mess with CPU governors, battery management stuff, even got a hotspot feature working that was supposed to be unsupported by my cell plan...>nearly a decade later i own a fucking vanilla iphone 15 and a PC running LTSC >always too "tired" to mess with things and exploream i getting old? how do i bring the magic back to tech?

>>107727502i... i think i might. well, in a VM as a training round, but i've got an old thinkcentre somewhere. could be fun. i never thought i'd be falling for the oldest meme in the book.
You're not getting old in a way that matters at 22. Cognitive decline doesn't begin until at least 35, longer if you use it more. Ask your doctor about sleep apnea. It's very common to remain undiagnosed especially if you're not fat, and it saps everything out of you. Also make sure you're consistently hydrated and not attractive to succubi.
Probably a bad diet
>>107727498Life generally gets in the way of doing things correctly.
You were never interested in technology, you just had the energy of a child and wanted to be a cool hacker for a little bit, like 999 other momentary interests. To do cool fun things with computers you have to be interested in tech. If you were interested in tech you would know, you wouldn't have to force yourself to do it like a chore, it would just be what you do in your spare time because you like it. Also you wouldn't have a iphone and windows PC, you'd have 3 thinkpads running different linux distros and a homelab setup or something, in other words you're cooked. It's too late now since your brain's plasticity is all gone
Lots of people distro hop until they get tired of it and settle on a distro like Mint or Debian. Maybe you're in an equivalent phase
Sad that troons appropriated this anime.
>>107727498unironically buy something retro and make an adventure out of fixing it
its called growing up
>>107727498I used to reinstall and switch OSes every couple months just for fun. Now since getting my current PC about 3 years ago, I've just been using the same stock Windows 10 LTSC install with barely any customization. I did upgrade it to 11 last year, but that's it. I dread having to deal with reinstalling. When I got my current Samsung phone about 2 years ago, I did look into Good Lock and Theme Park and all that shit, but ultimately decided it was too much effort and I didn't really care, so I've just been using it basically stock as well. I used to spend hours messing with jailbreaks and roots and custom launchers/roms when I was a kid too. Maybe I'm just depressed now.
employmentI have a $200 phone instead of the usual $100 one only because I don't want my OS to be stored on 90s flash memory tech that goes bad in 2 years. And win10 iot ltsc bc I wanna just run exes for mods and software. I still dont play multiplayer games so I really could go back to linux but all my drives are at 80+% so I'm not restarting with linux. The only way to bring the magic back is to have more time. I used linux for the longest stretch, guess what, in perfect coincidence with when I was un/underemployed the longest.
>>107727544>Also you wouldn't have a iphone and windows PC, you'd have 3 thinkpads running different linux distros and a homelab setup or somethingSo suspiciously specific that this is obviously projection. You're not "interested in tech" either, brown poser. Have fun playing with your troonix laptops alone
Tinkering is for those with leisure time or have to do it as a job.Once you reach an age where you don't want to mess shit up any more you stop fucking around your stuff
>>107727498Similar story OP>poor kid>hand me down laptop>can't game on it>learn Linux to get the most out of it>no friends to hang out with after school>learn python insteadFast forward to today>macOS>iphone>play video games>vibecode everything>waste time with wife every nightI think it's basically convenience and hedonism that degrades the soul. Force yourself to make do with less. Make yourself poor so that your spirit may be rich.
idk how you people use proprietary softwarei'd lose my shitits slow, it runs only on shit niggerkettle slop hardware, its fucking useless actually what do you even do with your computer?
>>107727953proprietary software apologists are sheep and cope with low intelligence by slopping "troon"/"jeet"/etc accusations around like a monkey throwing its shit. they can't figure out how to be productive with foss programs because they'd have to adapt to a different workflow so they just pretend it's not possible. i can be productive with any os or software but using anything other than my linux install is annoying and i'd never use anything else long-term
Redneckshota...
