>uses more memory than a large, 3D, open-world game right in your way
The absolute state of modern web browsers.
>>
Is that reserved or committed memory? Does it include CoW memory? Web browsers run many subprocesses which inherit a shitload of code and assets loaded into memory, but it may not be that bad.
>>
anon opens over 30 porn video websites and wonders why it uses so much ram

firefox is all 4chan tabs. chrome has a 8 youtube tabs, and everything else is literally text and images. imagine defending rendering some html text and a bunch of css nonsense to need as much memory as rendering thousands of polygons and complex physics calculations.

Why are you fags like this?
>>
Now that RAM is expensive as shit will the software developers finally start to optimize their bloated crap?
>>
>>107729817
sorry, that fix will have to wait. firefox team is all busy shoveling in AI features!

This is why I have 48GB of RAM.

32GB for games
16GB for background shit and web browsers.

never. you will run just one program at a time

You don't optimize for poor people because you don't want poor people as clients as they're just a waste of time. It's why webshitters don't care about page filesize, it's why software isn't made to be super performant, why mobile apps don't support devices 5 years out of date despite compatibility being fairly easy to add and so on.
There are exceptions - webshitters that work for stuff used by farmers etc where connection is spotty obviously care more (at least pre-starlink), and I guess walmart does want the penniless retards as well - but for the most part nobody who has a clue bothers with poor people because it's not where the money is, and they probably stole your software in the first place.

optimize how? what exactly is "bloated" about OP's example?
uncompressed HD textures are large. audio, video files, etc are also large.
you can't even display a single 100MiB jpeg as is in memory, tardo. it still needs to be decoded into a bitmap of some kind.

where are the memory savings? in many cases, just not using garbage collected runtimes saves you from it since you'll be forced to deal with different ref counting types and cleanup on disuse.
>>
just download the tabs to your hdd
>>
>>107729817
Just use Pale Moon then, it's still got old style memory management

Yes, that's precisely my point. When you run a business you care about people who are potentially willing to give you their money. If they use a cheap laptop from 2016 they're probably not going to pay you anything, so if anything not supporting old clunkers is a gain, not a loss.

anon I don't think it's surprising that companies go after clients that will actually pay them

Why do poor people feel that they're owed high end hardware for just a few bucks?
You don't have a high end car either and somehow you manage
>>

I had Win10 running on an Intel Atom mini pc with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Not only would it run without issue, but Windows will delete parts of itself to fit when running updates. Only replaced it because the processor was so slow it would take 20-25 seconds to load up a YT video.
