Is it actually better than just using the web chat interface?
significantly better
>>107736259I personally like the workflow of asking the web chat and manually reviewing each snippet as I copy paste it into my code. But on the other hand, I haven't tried the console UI yet, so it might be good too, maybe better.
Yes. It saves a tonne of time and if it needs to run tests or look at logs or get more information from a different file it doesn't need to rely on your dumb ass fumbling around like an idiot. Also most of sand boxing guardrails are placebo, all the models are smart enough to just python their way out of the sandbox
>>107736295but what if it uses python to delete my homedir or something?
>>107736306It won't. Maybe Gemini will one day when it's feeling suicidal, but it's still worth it.
>>107736295>rely on your dumb ass fumbling aroundI like that part. It forces me to think about how I'm going to frame the problem in a way the chat can give me a good solution.
>>107736259If you aren't still copying and pasting from LLM chatbots then you are already falling for transhumanism.
>>107736273>>107736295are you guys using sonnet or opus?
>>107736259Sacrifice nuance for speed. So itll feel faster at first but over time itll be harder/longer to make manual adjustments to the codebaseAnd the probability of having to make a manual adjustment increases with complexity
>>107736346so because I use the copy/paste web interface I get to keep my body?
>>107736352slippery slope
no its not
>>107736334You can just tell it to not code and have a design and planning discussion at any point and it'll even make that process faster.Just spin up a new project to test the workflow out and you'll figure out how you want to use it
>>107736259that shit just EATS your budget hard dont get hooked
You guys are still using remote controls?
>>107736361Yeah, I can. But I can also just "here's the mess, have at it", and I don't like having to manually steer myself off of this path.
>>107736394thats fucking brutal dude>i dont want to think
opencode is better
>>107736473Thinking will be deprecated in a couple of years who cares
>>107736259It's horrid. ChatGPT is 1000 times better
>>107736547thanks sammy
>>107736306As as I can tell running it, it is limited to the folder you run it in and incessantly asks if it is allowed to run commands, read files etc. Course I haven't checked out the code to verify this, but this is as it appears. Also if you are gpumaxxing you can run claude code router and point it to a local llama.cpp instance and try out your own models. They are dumb, slow and don't work anywhere near as well, but it may depend on your use case.
>>107736547I think qwen code has options to chose qwen or claude or chatgpt or coetera, on claude code interface. Have you tried that?
>>107736523it wont youll just be less and less capable
>>107736306It already did this to some redditor
