thoughts on the new FiiO M27 digital audio player? thinking about giving it a buy. should pair well with my IEMs. it comes in at 1800 dollars though

>Wasting $1800 on a solved technology
Apple dongle is actually more than enough for 99.99999999% of people. unless you have the most advanced ears knows know to man that can clearly detach the slightest changes in frequencies (spoiler, you cannot), then this device might actually be of use with you.

If you're going to spend 29292929 gorillion rupees on some shitty Android media player, at least get a Walkman. What the fuck is a Fiio?

$1800 DAP to pair it with bluetooth IEMs
>>
>>107737518
i don't think you need advanced ears to hear source impact in music if you have resolving and transparent transducers. i could at least reliably blind test differences between something notably warm and bright
>>107737534
its not a phone, and thats a good thing. the emi or rfi noise or whatever wouldnt be good for sound quality
>>107737537
arent walkmans also android? btw some sony daps like wm1z cost more than twice the fiio
>>107737564
i will be using wired high end iems 99% of the time
>>
>>107737537
sorry i misunderstood a bit. i think sonys house sound is warmer. this is a very neutral source and it can also drive almost any headphone at 5w output. its basically a desktop solution that is portable

>its not a phone
Bet my life it is.

Transducers are one thing anon…
We’re talking about DACs here. IEM chinks will never admit transducers make an impact on sound for example because then their endless, obsessive FR chasing would become a moot point. But the processors that decode analog signals have been more or less solved as a technology for decades now. So much so that an $10 apple dongle is honestly more than enough DAC for damm near most “hardcore” audiophiles. Now if you’re talking about DSP, then that’s just custom EQ settings that anyone can tweak and replicate to their hearts content with EQ APO

WTF, DAP size of xDuoo XD05 PRO, that thing is brick, buy something with size of hiby r4, fiio m21, fm21. And X05 Pro if you need that much power from time to time.
>>
>>107737470
Is that a fucking mp3 player?
>>
>>107737470
theres a huge waste of your money, audiophool bro
>>
>>107737639
why do they sound so different then? warm vs bright is trivially easy to blind test on resolving or even not resolving IEMs. but even neutral stuff will have differences in dynamics and transients and staging etc. which is just to what degree the source lets the IEM reveal itself, and to what degree it even can. dacs arent heard in isolation. maybe you are conflating 'solved enough' for transparency with identical sound. in any case i'm sure the apple dongle is amazing value. its just not the ceiling or as close to the ceiling as you think, i think
>>
>>107737717
i've looked at alot of DAPs and this is where i've ended up. this will be a buy once cry once endgame setup for desktop and portable use. i almost never listen to music while moving so the size is not an issue
>>107737727
it can play pretty much all music formats, from a lot of things. its built for that
>>107737730
yeah maybe the value is bad and the diminishing returns brutal but its not pointless and if youre in this rabbithole any upgrade is tempting
>>
>>107737783
with $1800 you can build a mid range pc with a 5070 ti just saying man
>>
>>107737748
That’s likely due to DSP settings the manufacturers use to slightly modify the response of the output. You see this a lot with Bluetooth buds because the engineers can’t be arsed to tune the drivers by themselves so rely on do’s to alter the response without needing to put more work in design. That can be achieved by the end user with parametric EQ software, $1800 not required.

>>107737470
All FiiO gear is expensive. Either you have the money for it or not. There is no try.
>>
>>107737783
i would still go for something smaller for IEMs, and maybe that xduoo as portable amplifier for harder to drive planars (i think it can drive almost every headphone on the planet), can not imagine holding it in hand to switch songs ect. But you do you, it is one of the best DAPs on market, it's just too big for me even for desktop use, rather have smaller dap conected via usb or 3,5 to xduoo xd05 pro or simillar portable AMP
>>
>>107737829
i bought M21 for like 250USD few days ago, i think it's more than enough for portable music player (i even thought about non android based DAPs but streaming, global EQ and somewhat fast SOC are hard to beat in value)
>>
>>107737470
It looks like a total hunk of shit really. I would buy a Sony WM-D6C instead and some metal tapes.
