Do any of you use this? Is it usable in practice?
>>
>>107738449
yes but you'll glow on the internet, it's like using a Level IV plate + night vision to shop at Walmart, it's allowed but very very strange
>>

Qubes is for the White man.
>>
>>107738483
This reasoning is why ultimately I chose debian as my babys first linuxgnu distro. But I am not sure if its rational
>>
>>107738522
and what's wrong with that
>>
>>107738522
You are wrong.
>>
I find this argument VERY hard to ignore.

>others suggest that Qubes OS may function as a de facto honeypot due to its visibility and the profile of its users. Because Qubes is known for its security focus, users who adopt it may attract attention from state-level adversaries, effectively placing them on a watchlist simply by using the system.
This is not due to a deliberate trap by the developers, but rather because the act of using Qubes signals a high threat model, making such users more likely targets.

they can't really tell tho. All they see is a tor connection
>>
>>107738636
This "ai generated summary" makes a very convincing case not to use it.

To be on the safer side of caution I opted for Debian 13 initially a few months back. But I think it was a mistake, due to it still being unstable it was a huge time sink
>>
>>107738636
>>107738659
Not sure if "they" would want us to know it's a honeypot if it were.
>>
>>107738522
Cool. What other software so I need to use to pedomaxx?
>>
>>107738659
journalists are using qubes os

https://theguardian.engineering/blog/info-2024-apr-04-when-security-matters-working-with-qubes-os-at-the-guardian

any other schizo with a pc is using it

either way, the more people use it the better don't you think?
>>
To answer OPs question: no its not really usable in practice. Very cumbersome
>>
>>107738669
it's a double psyop

They also use phones and computers you fucking retard. They also lock the door when they use toilet. People that use iPhones, macOS, Android, Windows etc. all have encryption as default. Criminals use cars and boats. Guns kill. Food kills. People die drinking too much water.

the iptables deprecation glows hard. you can never be sure your vpn qube isnt leaking. openvpn is deprecated for mullvad too, and most posts recommend some eold fedora 38 for the iptables + openvpn mullvad setup.

nftables is complicated as fuck and there is no real killswitch.

aside this it is very good for compartimentalization
>>
>>107739316
is proton vpn good?

What is this retarded logic? Do you also leave your money out in the open instead of a safe because it would be the first thing thieves would be looking for?
>>
>>107739420

It is completely useless. Let alone the fact that if the host system gets compromised, all the VMs are for nothing.
>>
>>107739737
thats true for any os but wouldnt all their isolation/virtualization make it much harder for that to happen than with other distros?
