The survey is a sample survey not a population census. It only hits I think 5% of users per month. This is noise.
Few years ago it struggled to hit 1%Seems like a decent user base size

It is clearly some kind of sampling error. English language spiked up significantly while Chinese fell off, which usually gets accompanied by a bump in Linux, but English-language Linux dropped off massively.From over 7% to just over 5%. Makes me wonder if there is some Windows update in China that made Steam detect them as English and over count them in the wrong category. It wouldn't be the first time.
