>Linux usage on Steam actually went down since last survey
Linux sisters, our response?
>>
The survey is a sample survey not a population census. It only hits I think 5% of users per month. This is noise.
>>
Few years ago it struggled to hit 1%
Seems like a decent user base size
>>
Probably the zoomers watching pewds and shit who realize they didn't have the patience or attention span to keep learning things for more than a week.
>>

As long it works well on my machine, i don't give a fuck.
I just like an OS i can change the window borders and have non-shit AMD video drivers.
>>
It is clearly some kind of sampling error. English language spiked up significantly while Chinese fell off, which usually gets accompanied by a bump in Linux, but English-language Linux dropped off massively.
From over 7% to just over 5%. Makes me wonder if there is some Windows update in China that made Steam detect them as English and over count them in the wrong category. It wouldn't be the first time.

Steam survey always shows a drop in linux percentage when the chinese are playing more games
>>

If you like Windows you should support linux.
Companies never do good things when not under risk, they just "optimize profit" when they're the only game in town.

Linux is malware
>>
>>107746720
Hole up...
1 out of every 30 people are gaming on Linux now?
>>
>>107746797
that's because of steam deck
>>
>>107747086
Windows 10/11 is malware.
It is literally the same shit that came with the nero CD burner disk
>>
>>107747115
The survey places the deck at a little over 21% of Linux users so it's still a decent amount of normal PC users
>>
>>107746720
3% is 200% increase over the typical 1% that it was many years ago.

I have been forced to get a Windows 11 machine. After using it for a few months, I am confident that the Linux userbase will grow. Hope to see you all at 10% in a few years.
>>
good
I hope he worries about the chances of peddling his censorious DRM box
>>
This month's survey is genuinely fucked somehow
Ah yes 100% of Linux users now use English and avx is so cool half the steam users have two sets of those instructions

Over 1 in 20 in the West.

Yeah, something strange is happening here. Also with as popular as the Steam Deck has been you'd think Linux numbers would rise still?
