This is about the screen's reflectivity of ambient light, which can reduce contrast more than a backlight. QD OLED is notoriously bad at this, it glows dark purple in ambient light, negating the benefits of OLED

youll know when you get it because its extremely noticeable. if you turn brightness up or touch any of the base settings it will happen within 1 year, probably less than 9 even. if you dont it will take a couple. probably exactly the amount of time given for the RMA period. if you attempt to RMA they will do all sorts of gymnastics to avoid sending you anything and then they will try to send you used panels

oled isnt worth it at all. you pay luxury price for a minorly improved image which you get the privilege of needing to baby the panel. including a pixel refresh every hour or two. its incredibly retarded. but if you spend money frivolously like an indian you will love it and cope post about it in these obvious lg shill threads

Its the phosphor coating. Some CRTs had really bright phosphor coatings, others were a bit better. CRTs weren't great in bright conditions, but in the dark they were excellent. I consider the Cosmic Microwave Background an acceptable level of dimness.
>>
>>107758742
oled will always degrade, even if you do not see burn-in , they get dimmer over time, and usually the blue degrades faster than the other colors on typical oled panels , requiring recalibration, (only qd-oleds are immune from this.) which imo is the bigger problem.

i frankly cannot wait for quantum nanorod emissive displays, will finally replace this degrading pos technology and the hotdog water that is lcd once and for all.
>>
>>107766600
so much has changed since crts were last made that it might not really be a problem anymore, stuff like the quantum dots used on samsungs qd-oled and va panels could be used to replace or enchance the phosphors , the mask would also likely be quite different, stuff that wasnt possible 25 years ago is readily available today and could be added with a relatively minimal effort, the bigger problem is the xrays.

>they get dimmer over time
Compared to peak brightness. The TVs don't operate at the actual hypothetical peak brightness even at the programmed peak brightness. That's what the conditioning is for, it levels out the brightness by wearing all the cells. And tandem OLEDs basically make it a non-factor. They achieve the same brightness at significantly less power and the wear is disproportionately low, since power-to-brightness is a non-linear curve. As for the "haze" or uneven levels, even LCDs suffer from that because the backlighting is a bunch of LEDs.
>>
>>107756946
My LG C5 is so black if you have a blank screensaver it looks like the tv is off. No purple tint or anything even with the lights on. It's pretty incredible.

Your mom's pussy.
>>
>>107773829

>>
>>107773690
depends on the model, if the display never goes above 400nits , then what you say is true, but if your hitting 800-1000 regularly and the display is not heatsinked sufficiently , it will lose brightness, they have improved their ability to compensate over time by predicting the degradation and upping the voltage, but it is an inevitable fate of all oleds.

Only thing I can think of is color gamut? Maybe text fringing if you don't know how to use custom sub-pixel layout text anti-aliasing.
Otherwise QD-OLEDs have worse blacks, burn-in quicker and aren't as bright in HDR.

I use OLED. My OLED was burned in much worse than this despite barely using it just because it got left on. I recalibrated it and it disappeared. It's amazing to me that people are worried. This thing is used to. More than the burn in what's annoying is the nigger style fire alarm beeping it does reminding me to turn it off. Considering all the OLED seething I guess it was worth it for the company to annoy their customers into not returning their tv even if you should have above room temp iq if you're going to game
