After about a year of use, my laptop fan starter rattling and also cooling went to shit, it was constantly throttling. So I opened it up and removed a shitton of dust caked into the fan exhaust, plus tried to kinda clean the fan a bit with my vacuum and by blowing on it (holding the blades down), I didn't see any obvious obstruction that would get in the way and it was rotating smoothly as I tried spinning it by hand.Closed my laptop back up and cooling is completely fixed, no more throttling even under heavy loads, but the rattling still persists and is basically unchanged either for the worse or for the better. i want to serve a page from a rpi, but i dont want the pi to have to be on the user's home lan. i want the user to have to connect to the pi which acts as a router (so they'd see "pi network" in their wifi") and then type in the default gateway in their browser and get to my page. of course, they would lose internet access while doing this, which is not ideal. how can i let them keep internet access while also being on a little network between only them and the pi?

I think you can specify the IP when using the API of some dynamic DNS services, so the Pi doesn't need creds to directly modify your own DNS records. We find an anime or movie we want to watch, download it, copy it to the SSD (which is external, the onboard storage is only like 128 GB), and watch it at our leisure as the laptop streams it to whichever TV we're watching stuff on. Over the onboard wifi, though, which is only wifi 4, copying a season of anime could take a couple of hours, if I remember correctly. We do want to be able to watch something in the evening that we started copying in the afternoon, so that's just too slow.Another thing to keep in mind is that the whole point is to be low-cost. The laptop was like $80, the SSD and external enclosure were things I already owned, and so on. Ordering a $13 wifi 6 adapter off of aliexpress to not have to worry about an ethernet cable is really nice, especially if I want to rearrange the room layout at any point. In the future, I might get an external HDD or larger SSD, and then it might be worth setting up the laptop to download series directly. For now, though, this fulfills our use case.
