Keep seeing comments about cloud gaming (like Geforce NOW) in the gen. Thought I'd offer my two cents as someone who actually used it for a few weeks: TLDR:>Depends on the title, NOT just about single player or networked, but the experienceSomething fast-paced and twitchy like The Finals or CS2 feels very mucky and awkward (forced to use non-poke/projectile weapons due to sheer latency). However, ARC Raiders and Fortnite felt surprisingly okay. ARC feels indistinguishably native, which really surprised me. Chivalry 2 is decent: just subtly weird, but not nearly as uncomfortable as The Finals or CS2. Hogwarts Legacy is a good example of a single-player game that feels pretty damn normal too, not really noticing latency issues at all.Mind you, I was playing on my desktop with a semi-fucked GPU at the time, so basically just CPU usage for the Geforce NOW app. Also, note that I have a gigabit Fiber connection, so YMMV otherwise. I theorize that the games in for which the Geforce service directs the higher-end GPU experience tend to be a bit more fluid just from the base performance perspective are noticeably better. However, networking and anims in different games do differ, so there's that too. I have since gotten my new GPU, and it's clearly a better experience overall, but there are also benefits like not needing to install a bunch of games just to try my library and some small bonuses (they gave out cosmetics and free Fallout 3/4/etc series game copies for instance).I only paid the temporarily discounted $10 for a month sub since I needed something in between replacing a dead GPU. I wouldn't pay more than that per month if I was to really use it, but overall, it's serviceable enough for a lot of experiences when you're in a pinch. I don't like the 100H playtime per payment period cap. I still have something like 30-35H left on my sub until the 14th. Could briefly test a game if anyone here asks and I have it, let me know.
>>1077538435060ti is fine for a last upgrade on older rigs that have PCIe 4.0. And it overclocks really well from what i have heard.
>>107753858KEEEEK PEOPLE THINK THIS SETUP WILL BE ABLE TO PLAY THINGS IN 4KOH YOU SUMMER CHILD, OH YOU POOR NIGGER
>>107753921Cloud gaming does not depend on your hardware but your internet speed. You stream the game, playing on another machine. That's what Cloud is. It is not local. That's the reason it can have massive lag or ping from time to time
>>107753023>>107753726>>107753787NTA but I fully agree with him that cloud gaming will start being pushed hard if local hardware becomes unnafordable. Yes cloud gaming is trash and laggy but I think the majority of normie cattle NPCs will eat it up if there are no alternatives.Yes they already tried it with Stadia and failed (and Geforce Now never gained traction), but gaming PCs and consoles were still pretty affordable. No gamedevs are going to make any effort to optimize shit and I think even A and AA indie studios will happily jump on the cloud gaming bandwagon. Only one-man/two-man studios will still make stuff for locally owned PCs and will be forced to learn to optimize instead of shitting out unoptimized asset flips using engine default settings.Keep in mind I'm not a shill, I don't see any of this shit as good things. I'm totally doomposting from my perspective but looks like where we're headed, and I hope I'm wrong.
From what i have read a while ago even with fiberoptic cable, cloud gaming still sucks ass for everything that is multiplayer. really dont see how they are going to force the CS fags on that.
>>107753953>NTA but I fully agree with him that cloud gaming will start being pushed hard if local hardware becomes unnafordable. And just like with the streaming services like netflix, it will be dirt cheap at first to convince people to take the jump from PC to cloud gaming

>>107752058Which is sad because the rx9070/xt are legitimately good cards
>>107751968NPCs and nu-/g/ thought it was a joke
>>107753942Yeah, I'm aware that network performance is key, but I rarely got drops during my use over more than two weeks, and it was very brief whenever it'd happen. As such, the point of my post was how much various kinds of experiences, with my rather good internet connection, still differed in terms of what felt reasonably playable and what was fucked up. I think it's genuinely interesting much they differ; how it isn't just as simple as>"multiplayer game feel more latency nnghhh"Rather, it's how specific games seem to respond to that extra latency compared to others, and sometimes, it's not as cut and dry as you'd expect. I mean, ARC and The Finals are made by the same devs, yet they are night and day in terms of how different they felt on Geforce NOW.>>107753965Fortunately, such tac shooters aren't really all that difficult to run (especially at the low resolutions so many players target), so it's unlikely to be that big of an issue for that particular target audience in my opinion. I couldn't stomach playing CS2 beyond a few joke deathmatch plays.>>107753965Depends on the title. I mentioned in a post above that ARC Raiders for example felt indistinguishably good, Chivalry 2 felt alright (but not quite there), and The Finals and CS felt fucked. I remember now that I also tried PEAK, which also felt absolutely fine and arguably indistinguishable from native. So, I think casual party/"play with friends" games are also great contenders for the service. At least, from my experience on a fiber-optic connection.

Tards here are still stuck in 2015. We have gigabits fiber connection, 5G (and 6G coming), wifi 7 (and 8 coming). >>107754573>remember all that cucks who were praising ray tracing and telling "just two more generations and it will take off"?>8 years and 5 generations later and it still not working and it never will now.To be fair it was the same with:>ambient occlusion>screen space reflections>hell even anisotropic filteringIn the first GPU generations that they were implemented, these technologies were too computationally expensive for anything but the highest tier GPUs, but they quickly took off after a couple of generations. So from a brainlet/midwit perspective I can understand how they were basing their assumptions. The difference is that by the time real time ray tracing was introduced as the new gimmick, only Redditors couldn't already see the writing on the wall that the Moore's Law curve was flattening, diminishing returns were quickly creeping in, and it would not take off anytime soon. Doesn't help that ray tracing is not only GPU-bound, current implementations (including RTX) are also heavily bottlenecked by CPU and system ram speed in most games.
>>107751931Good. All games should run well on integrated graphics. No need to push graphical limits. Just make some better games with smaller teams.

I've been warning peoplewhilst cutting edge computers are affordable you better get one. Whatever you have you're going to be stuck with for the next 20 yearsPeople don't understand how complex and intensive chip manufacture is. It's the most difficult manufacturing process in the world, and it's only going to get more difficult in the future and more out of reach for consumers. There's thousands of different components in a computers that are sourced from thousand places and a hundred different countries. The supply chain is fragile and unsustainableHere's the price for a high end consumer computer by year before inflation, on the consumer end. Think of like if you bought a 5090 and 9800X3D today3 years - $50005 years - $1000010 years - $5000015 years - $15000020 years - $250000

This year will be quite funny for the smartphone market, I wonder how Apple or Samsung will announce their new flagships being either weaker than older models or almost twice the price.
In a matter of time the abundance of GPU production and the impossibility of significantly increasing the context window by throwing more of the current hardware at it will result in alternative hardware solutions being adopted by the industry resulting in a sharp decline in retail prices.OpenAI is absolutely drowning in expenses.>https://futurism.com/artificial-intelligence/openai-is-suddenly-in-major-troubleThe industry has no choice but to succeed in developing more appropriate technology or letting the so-called AI bubble burst. In either scenario, the result will be inexpensive retail hardware.
>>107751931You read that incorrectly. What they really meant is that GPGPUs are going away. Nvidia is going back to ASICs. Pure GPUs are coming back with weak or no real general compute power (Think Maxwell/Pascal). Compute stuff will be on different ASICs that cannot do graphics at all.
>>107752013Wrong, that mobile 3060 has been bested from competitors is a laughing stock now.

>>107754080>Are we really reduced to using our computer parts for speculation? What a wasteBought a 64GB DDR5 kit for 176€ over a month ago so i can have 128GB in my system. I've thought about selling it for a profit but fuck that. I'm going to run all of the memory-leaking software i want with no swap and not worry about it for years to come. I wonder what the landscape will be like 1-2 years from now when the datacenters have been built and all the orders from ai companies have been filled. Will ram be cheap again or will personal computing have permanently become a luxury of the rich? A world where the major manufacturers have moved to producing mostly HBM and consumers get only the smallest capacities that are considered acceptable for use in smartphones and chromebooks
>>107752325China will be making homegrown GPUs within 2 years, and selling them abroad within 4. By year 6, they will be superior to all Nvidia gaming offerings and 1/3 the price.I don't even care about the industry, this is just what's going to happen.
>>107755114That has always been the end goal. Google showed their endgame with Stadia but consumer hardware was still affordable back then so it flopped. Somebody might reboot the idea soon to justify the million unused GPU racks in their data centers.
>>107751931Nvidia wouldn't have made it without consumers who wanted to play games. This is how they give thanks. Of course it's a brownoid at the top.
>>107756087Keep dreaming
>>107756018OpenAI could lose one trillion dollars per month and it wouldn't matter since they are paid by the US government

but you guys know that if you stop buying shit the prices will go down because companies will panic? you can cope and seethe, but nobody sane is going to let ram or gpus cost arm or leg in modern economy, it will be used against these companies by chinks and such
>>107751931I told you uneducated fucking morons this was happening. I've been saying I er and over and you idiots don't listen. The plan is force you to use only phones and tablets for your "access" and to force you out of owning a PC or even a laptop. What part about them not wanting you running your own LLM or writing your own code or doing anything they disapprove of do you chimps not get?In the next 5 to 10 years everything you do will be subscription based and only accessable through mobile and tablets because you WONT have a PC or laptop anymore.
>>107756261Look at how many datacenters are being built. Obviously this was also a clue.
>>107751931That's not what it means you fucking retard, it means AI compute will move away from general-purpose hardware like GPUs and towards ASICs or other more purpose-built hardware that can do the specific tasks required in AI workloads more efficiently. This is like saying no more GPUs will be made because people mine Bitcoin on ASICs instead.
>>107756261OH I WONDER what will happen in 2027 if NOBODY fucking buy their stuff anymore HMMMM, stop with this meme bubble burst or other shit, this is not how economy works, if there will be nobody to buy then they will shit themselves HARD

>>107756268It's not a hard push for them. Something like only 40% of homes have a PC or a laptop now. At least the last stat look up I did.
>>107752189>The R9 290 and 290X were vastly better cards than the GTX 780 and 780 TiThat's not true.>Consoomers rejected AMD even when they had competitive products290 and 290X were rejected because they weren't faster than the competition and AMD released them with an absurdly bad cooler which had the cards run at nearly 95C while also being an extremely loud hairdryer. The reference design which was what reviewers got was abysmal dogshit and that's what people saw. Buying an aftermarket design was basically required, but those only came out later and obviously did not have the review push or public attention that the extremely bad reference models did. AMD shot themselves in the foot due to extreme stupidity and inability to design a graphics card cooler, which is why the 290 and 290X were "rejected" by people.
>>107756273They expect you to buy a subscription. People who hold onto personal computing will slowly become a smaller and smaller portion, the more outnumbered you get, the less power you have. This is their plan. Not sure how we can stop it. Even a company as big as Steam might not have the resources to stop it, but maybe they can get that big by filling the niche. That would take time though.
>>107751931Nah. Even if they move to a different market niche someone will take over the market niche they abandon. Maybe the chinks, maybe AMD, who knows but someone will still produce GPUs for gamers and whatnot. Not to mention that even if they cut production on newer GPUs you could always buy older models or second hand. Maybe you won´t be able to buy the latest model on release but that will be the worst of it.
>>107756343Exactly.The world is full of Facebook using, Reality TV watching, TikTok scrolling NPC sheep brains and they outnumber us 1000,000 to 1. Their numbers are growing and ours are shrinking. Protip: this is a step in the right direction. Remember mp3 players? No one else does either. Storage and processing on the consumer end is inefficient which is why most audio/video is now accessed through stream and why most software/games distribute through DRM services. This is just the next step in the same improvement cycle. Imagine turning on your PC, which is literally just a screen. You are instantly connected to everything you use and can play every game you own - it's just processed off site and streamed back to you. The processing power you have access to automatically upgrades with the service so there's never a need to buy new hardware. That's gonna be the norm by 2030 and your 3rd gen NVidia GPU will be as valuable as a dvd player today. You're just mad whatever weird shit you do is no longer gonna be private.

This is why everyone needs to buy the 5090 right now. Put in an order for whatever they're going for and then wait. Doesn't matter if you have to wait for it for 6 months, it'll be a good deal compared to where the prices are going. It's going to be the last card properly oriented for the consumer with the largest amount of VRAM available.I bet the 6000 series is going to be delayed and then it launches in such small numbers, that it's going to be scaled to oblivion and everyone is going to be waiting a year for their cards at minimum.Citing the ongoing memory shortages, they'll max out at 24GB VRAM, with a price tag of 6k in real terms even if they were 3k on paper. They'll price out the average person from powerful personal computing and by extension the AI sector, and this way we'll own nothing. >>107751931Guess cocksucking Jensen until your eyes aimed sideways didn't go well for all of ya, huh? Glad I don't use any of their shit.Stop being so blackpilled, all you do is bring shame to yourself.
>>107751931behold I told you beforecomputers will be an electron app rendering a cloud service, you will have to pay monthly or you get a fancy paperweight, well maybe they will be free but you will need to pay being flooded with mandatory ads like in free play store slop nowadays
>>107751931nigger zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Who gives a shit? Why do you need a 50000000000$ glorified manchild PC component in the first place? >hurr durr muh price hikes muh dystopian visionsShut up nerd, get off the internet.
Now that AMD has no competition they'll go back to being shitty
>>107766077pajeet, races with higher order intelligence need more than throwing cow dung to be properly entertained. so this is a pretty big deal.
>>107751931Actually horrifying. I can't even imagine this and yet it's happening.
>>107766089AMD has no vram even if they wanted to grab free market share
Lmao the only card people will ever be able to buy is amd and they fucking have the monopole on the consoomers now meaning they can sell you whatever shit they want and pull the same shit as nvidia LMAO
>>107766126That's exactly what will happen. No competition means they can shit out whatever they want and you have no other choice.
>>107759470I'm still not sold on needing terribly faster inference in all honesty. Unless I wanted to rig my entire home with shitty IoT devices all controlled by a collection of AI models all while holding conversations with them.Hell Chinese and Euro devs have been making strides in small model architecture to the point that I'm not sure we'll even need slop models to do anything by the end of next year. Just pipe in a web search to some small 8B model and go to town.
>>107755478>ywn smuggle black market Chinese computer parts in from Mexico
>>107766126Intel GPU division has been doing decent work. Just because Ngreedia has decided to go full bubble boy doesn't mean the market won't still leave options for people.
>>107766126>>107766173Besides, for people who didn't want to shill out a lot of money Nvidia wasn't even an option anyways for a while. I know it wasn't when I built earlier this year.
>>107752367They can't optimize even if they wanted to at this point. Game development has basically become a cargo cult. Pajeets using AI just copy and paste stuff into UE5 and flick a couple settings. They don't have the capacity to make their own actual games in the way developers used to. Hardware being shitty and out of date won't suddenly provide an incentive structure and pathway to make these people talented. The good news is that modern games all suck anyway, and there's such an endless backlog of games going back 40 years across consoles and PC that we'll never truly ever run out of games to play.
>>107751931>Nvidia will completely exit the consumer marketthat would be great. I would be happy with the two major players being Intel and AMD.Thankfully any game I like is basically playable on an iGPU. If anything this will accelerate Intel and AMD release chips with onboard graphics and ram as an all in one package. For most people, myself include, this would be sufficient.I mean the latest cpu I am running is a kaby lake. You just don't need to upgrade that often anymore and that is fine.
I will support the next company that will take over Nvidia spot.
>>107766232You will defend that company at all costs.
>>107751968I already beat this guyalso its really pathetic to see conservatives who oppose living in a pod and eating zee bugs depend heavily on Grok, Adobe CC and Office365 for all their computing task They don't apply their own logic to software
>"AI will use dedicated ASIC-style hardware instead of general-purpose GPUs.">"Oh nice! So you'll be able to split off your business - one part focused on AI, and one part dedicated to gaming - and we'll finally get affordable graphics cards again, right?">"...">"...You're going to split off your business into one dedicated to AI and one dedicated to gaming, right?"
>>107765701We already had that in smart TVs since the 2010s
>>107764508Bad actors existed for a long time, but they were limited by competence and low numbers. AI gives them ability to outspam everyone and levels the playing field. Before bots used to reply with pre-written sentences that kind of match the context based on key words, now AI can replicate any internet content almost flawlessly at first glance with no human input beyond setting it up. AI gave bad actors superpowers and good actors have no need for these tools because they have no need spamming the internet with slop.
>>107751968I find it funny how before 2020 it was exclusively conservatives against globohomo and surveillance state, now you go on /pol/ and see the average right-wing poster support bigtech, AI, Israel, Blackrock, rich pedophiles while everyone left of centre cannot stop complaining about AI, Israel, BigTech, Palentir surveillance and Epstein files. Fucking Alex Jones was talking about pedophile satanic elites decade ago and now he is silent about it. Why did this polar shift happen?
>>107766232Intel’s CPU business isn’t doing so good, maybe they can focus more on GPUs.
>>107751931>Nvidia leaves GPU marketgood riddancedaily reminder that Nvidia gave 15 million to Israel while they bombed civilians and children in Gazadaily reminder that Nvidia has a datacenter in Israel
it's called "artificial" intelligence for a reason because it doesn't existwhat does exist are the billions, if not trillions that you got subsidized by the state, a massive tax burden which are moved on to people that have nothing to do with it and fake economic growth that copes on raising the price on everything we use todaysince AI needs infinite energy to be sustainable Nvidia and all those other faggots in the AI space will never make iteach quarter the report will be nothing but a empty promises but the influx of money needs to be there to fake statistics that represent themit's a scam
>>107767022The younger generations are all for "the current thing" - when they see a video with 100 mil. (fake) views, they'll just obey, follow and repeat like a good goy
