It's way more unacceptable for hardware to balloon 10x in power draw in order to 20x their performance rather than software needing 5x better hardware to run twice as fast or good looking

No one is stopping you from using lower power hardware
>>
>>107763124
I mean... that's one of the main reasons why people stopped buying intel cpus.
unless you're in the market for a space heater i guess.
>>
>>107763129
I can't run modern (bloated) software unless I use bloated hardware
>>
>>107763124
What are you basing this claim on? Hardware has to deal with heat transfer which does not perform linearly. You're exactly the opposite of correctl.
>>
>>107763186
>Hardware has to deal with heat transfer
And what is that caused by? advanced lithographies allow for smaller dies with the same transistor count to be made so it can't be from nowhere
>>
>>107763241
buddy.

stop larping
>>107763167
nobody is forcing you to play cyberpunk

the thing you and most others don't understand is that graphic fidelity scales in 3d. and so you need to conceptualize that better quality means you need a power of 3 increase in gpu performance... a big requirement that isnt fulfilled by 2x'ing transistors every year

there is a lot of jewery involved, it is gay how all the hardware companies are massive pussies and wont invest in big dies anymore, and the new power cables that always burn up. its all fucking cost cutting these days. theres a reason why nbidia gets away with selling the 5090 at ham planet pricing and its not just cause whales have deep wallets. it's literally what is required for better graphics... its not bloat at all, you just don't understand reality

>It's way more unacceptable for hardware to balloon 10x in power draw in order to 20x their performance rather than software needing 5x better hardware to run twice as fast or good looking
Why? Literally people are complaining about the other way around.
>>
>>107763167
then the problem is the software, not the hardware, you fucking monkey
>>
>>107763124
Blame software devs for making OSes, browsers and basic office software use 100x more resources and compute than before without having anything close to that level of functional improvements.

Or, if you are trying to run high fidelity, raytracing games in high quality or rendering complex scenes or doing high end prossessing, accept that large and powerful hardware is needed for these tasks and indeed it always was. That is not consumer hardware becoming needlessly bigger, it's consumer hardware edging closer to business and studio specs.

>advanced lithographies allow for smaller dies with the same transistor count to be made so it can't be from nowhere
Huh? We make transistors smaller so we can put more of them on the chip. Ergo, there is more resistance and so more heat. What are you questioning here?
>>
Ideally we would still be using Motorola 68000s. The fact we aren't is BLOAT
>>
>>107763150
>wattage in heat out
look at AMD power draw
>>
>>107763167
normies seem to get by just fine on their ARM laptops. maybe it’s a you problem
>>
>>107764319
>cyberpunk
Ironic choice considering CDPR has been way better about performance (bugs aside) than most other AAA studios. Don’t know if it’ll last now they’ve moved to unity but red engine was really well made
>>
>>107763124
people who deal with hardware are not broke subhumans like most software people.
>>
>WAAAAAH I DON'T WANT HARDWARE TO PERFORM AS BEST AS IT CAN BECAUSE IT'S BIG
you're a faggot OP
If anything I want laptops to run at desktop clocks with adequate heatsinks to get the performance I paid for
I don't care about your fragile estrogenated body
>>
>>107763241
Precisely because of that anon. If a transistor dissipates a certain ammount of energy as heat and you are able to put more transistors on a smaller area, it means you are going to be putting more heat on a smaller area which will reach higher temperatures.
When designing hardware, everything has tradeoffs. It is not like software where you can optimize things without having compromise on some other quality. Making hardware is using current day technology to find a balance point between all tradeoffs that best fits your needs.
>>
>>107763124
ARM fixes this
>>
>>107765284
And?
AMD uses less power for regular shit; it only sucks power when working hard.
Intel CPUs never stop chugging power.
