I never got this meme. On anything remotely resembling a modern operating system on any hardware with an MMU (all of them you can name) once you exit all your shit is automatically reclaimed. And obviously this is true for if cleanup had to be done manually it would not occur with a sigkill. And yet, malloc tutorials always say remember to free everything before exiting.
