>stays traditional and boring for 30 years

When did you realize that this is the philosophy that makes a comfy desktop environment?
>>
in 2019 I was saying the software should update but the desktop environment should stay the same and generic forever

I was implying Cinnamon but now I'm on xfce too.

I agree with both

It's terribly optimized and will lose any reason to exist once they switch to Wayland.
>>
>>107765542
Xfeces and cinnamon and all the other gnome 2 forks should join forces and make something actually good and Wayland compatible with no python or JavaScript.

when MS attempted to replace perfect and holy win2k design with gay-ass windows XP shit

Xfce is not a gnome 2 fork.

it works, it does what i need, and its cost to me was zero
i don't get hung up over things like version numbers or licenses
i love me window maker, i love me xorg, and i love me some *nix

I can't use that its stupidly inefficient to have those large as blocks on the side of the screen.

wayland is a dead end
wobbly windows, transparent terminals, and ui cubes aren't a compelling reason to scrap x11 which actually works
>>
>>107768136
You know Wayland has security benefits too, right?
>>
>>107768136
Wobbly windows, transparent terminals and UI cubes are all X11. I had those on my Arch when Wayland didn't even exist.
>>
>>107768450
Fuck security benefits. Tried and true all the way.
>>
cinnamon is just better. there is no reason to use xfce
>>
>>107768450
i have yet to see a convincing argument for switching to wayland. x11 fills all my usecases and have never given me any trouble, why would i switch?

Debian stable with XFCE is extra comfy. You can compute like it's still the 1990s, with package versions to match.

I see the 4 Anons using XFCE on their core 2 duo poorbox have come together

i don't see this. have you tried installing it since 1999 or just lying on the internet the best we can do these days?

never was and never will be

I've used xfce happily for quite some time now but recently I've been seeing weird bright red artifacts when using firefox, chromium window completely bugs out when dragged from half-screen width outwards and stuff like that.
>>
>>107765542
this.
every big ui change is corporate taking a huge smoking dump on its customers while smiling.

that being said, i prefer tiling managers with all my custom shitty scripts. i choose to see as little os ui as possible, if any.
>>
>>107768789
It's not fast, I get better performance on GNOME on my shitty old laptop
>>
>>107765542
I love Xfce but everything scales like ass on a 4k HiDPI display
