I gave it some thought, 2008.
>>
>>107768852
It already stopped.
We're shifting towards corporate socialism now.
RAM stopped existing in 2025
Computers 2026

Hey, same answer as me! I think having Core 2 Duo is plenty.

Have a good day, cutie~

Whenever 64 bit OSs came out so 2006 I guess.

64 bit memory addressing in consoomer applications is the exact point everything went wrong. You went from an assumption of having 4gb hard maximum, to the hard limit being so high it's effectively infinite and being allowed to take up 8gb per fucking web browser tab because you can just call the consoomer a poorfag instead of actually optimizing anything.

Processors have actually gotten SLOWER per core since, because fuck it, there's high speed memory and lots of it. And there hasn't been any real development that has helped the world since.

I'd be fine with ~2014 tech if I knew it could never get significantly better than it is right now. Mostly because there's been basically nothing really new since then (technically earlier). Hardware gets slightly better, software gets much worse, and then LLMs just shit on everything.
But I'm not sure "content" is the right word. I'm not content right now either. It's all underwhelming, none of the good parts of cyberpunk are there. Even VR is a joke. I do like my puter, but specs aside it's nothing I couldn't have a decade ago.

I think 1989.

We’d have enough for the internet. Cars peaked. Culture was still decent. Just go back to 1989 on YouTube and Watch Computer Chronicles and motorweek in mid 1989.

The x86 CPU world stagnated for about 5 years with nothing but cache increases and clock boosts after the 486 was released. Took a long time for the Pentium to really gain traction. Things were still okay.

Men dgaf about what is "acceptable" to say. They just say what comes to mind

I'm going to assume OP meant "would've"

Right before covid would have been a good place to stop. So 2018 I guess.
2019 was when the world went to shit and it hasn't recovered since then, and it doesn't look like it will in my lifetime.

>>
>>107769653
You don’t have to be American.
After his failed presidential run, he became the Pontifex Maximus of the cult of Global Warming. He incorrectly claimed that all coasts would be underwater by 2010, 2015, 2023, etc and to this very day there is no significant measurable sea level rise anywhere on the planet.

The inconvenient truth is that “climate change” was always communist bullshit

when touhou 12 released. Any kind of hardware graphical improvement on games was unnecessary.

We had phones to communicate with each other but no other features where necessary.

minecraft could have gotten to it's polished beta state without better hardware.

browsers looked nice since the 90s.

everyone relevant could afford a decent computer.

we never needed more than 4gb of ram as >>107769028 says

all these developments in hardware stem from the scientific class trying to improve stuff for the sake of development and the usurer class to make more money.

games needed no graphical improvement since gta four.

CERN is behind this, never should have made us skip timelines

We haven't reached that year for me yet, dunno wtf everyone is talking about
we still don't have robot sex wives, full dive virtual reality, and the holodeck

Tech still has quite a way to go before I'm satisfied. I could only imagine being satisfied before current era of you're a normalfaggot, yeah I guess I would be satisfied with tech in 1989 if I hardly used it and was out clubbing all the time or whatever the fuck they do

In ‘89 you had USENET, BBS, and everything you needed.
In a few more years Wolf3D and Doom would be released and your 486 would run them.

You could buy a Japanese car with modern enough features in 1989 that would last 20+ years.

You could buy modern enough appliances and a modern enough home.

Finally, you could still get a decent white woman who wouldn’t be a tattooed whore that rode the cock carousel of mystery meat and blacks.
I would be lucky to be frozen in time in 1989 (as an American)

Is this really going to be about technology - or is it about society?

Because I don't think the technology did anything to actually change us for the worse. It's mostly been society going down the shitter with criminals at the helm abusing the technology of the day to do bad things; nothing that's happened is inherent to the technology itself.

We could, today, cut off the 3rd world from our internet and deport all the nons in our society.
We could mandate free speech and prevent youtube, google, facebook, etc. from willy nilly banning people for having non-leftist political views.
We could have kept all our manufacturing in our country and had jobs and embraced automation and robotics to produce more and faster and better.

Nothing negative that has happened in our countries is because of any technology, but exclusively because of anti-White criminals and parasites taking from us and abusing the technology of the time. A mugger doesn't care if he uses a tire iron, a baseball bat, a knife, or a handgun to rob you. Whatever he has, he'll use. Same with the criminals running our countries. Whatever they have, they'll use and abuse.

1999, that is Quake 3 and CRTs. While I do love my e-ink devices I can live without them and settle for real books.

Since early 2000s, and it became even more pronounced with the advent of smartphones and the tech that sprawled out of it. It may seem contradictory at first, but, in my opinion, for the past two decades humanity's main drive was not to change the environment for itself -what our ancestors have been doing for thousands of years- but to create a new one, a virtual one. Massive resources are being dedicated to it. It came to the point that for many individuals, the virtual world has become the primary one where they get information, wealth, and human interaction.
Yes, there are pioneers like space agencies trying to get further into the solar system and expand our physical reach. But they are more like outliers and not trend-setters.
My fear is this force fueled by human's desire to live in a convenient fantasy rather than struggling to explore the harsh frontier of space.

It's everything that happened afterwards. The global surveillance state, backdoors into every piece of hardware and software, the pervasive 24 hour news cycle, web 2.0 shit, social media, the rise of Amazon, mobile internet and smartphones... the list goes on. The 10th was the last day of innocence. The turning point before we went to hell.
