I'm upgrading from a Note 20 Ultra before we get fucked by the RAM shortage and I narrowed it down to Galaxy S25 (base) vs Pixel 10. I would like something smaller and they fit the bill, but I am on the fence about some issues. The Pixel 10 looks more easy to repair (with genuine parts available from ifixit) and less bloated, but the Tensor G5 seems to be a couple of generations behind the Snapdragon 8 Elite in all metrics of CPU/GPU performance. I don't do any gaming on my phone, but I'm reading reports of laggy Pixel 10s (even Pro versions) when taking multiple high resolution pictures or videos, and this is unacceptable for a phone which is marketed as a flagship. Any thoughts?

I will mention that auto brightness on OP phones is broken and they still haven't fixed it. My S23U immediately boosts to 1200 nits under direct sunlight without fail every single time so if sunlight legibility matters to you I'd go for the S25U.

People shill Samsung for muh Good Lock but they never mention that it's not pre installed or anything and that you have to go to the Galaxy Store, find it and download the app, then you have like 10+(?) separate apps within the Good Lock app to choose from that offer extra control over a bunch of very specific things. It's undoubtedly an impressive feature and I've used it myself but as a first time user you have to kind of jump through some hoops to get to it, and when you do get to it you're hit with a barrage of customization features. I wish it was just integrated into the settings or throughout the UI from the jump. Also, OneUI isn't consistently smooth. 6.1.1 could be very smooth but when it hitched or dropped frames you'd notice it every time. OneUI 7 was supposed to be the update that leveled the playing field with Chinese OEMs but that was bullshit and fine tuning the animations didn't help. For this reason I prefer OOS. It reminds me of PixelUI on the 6 Pro a lot in this regard. That phone and the OnePlus 13 actually feel like flagships when you use them while the S23U feels worse than a midrange phone from 2-3 years ago at times.
