is there any more bloated industry in terms of technology than music production? how many fucking knobs do they need?
>>
>>107784876
Those knobs all do different things, or rather many do the same thing but on different channels. It's basically a single set of controls but copied and apsted over however many channels you want. They do that not because anybody likes having a shit ton of knobs and faders, but because it's the best interface we've come up with to handle things, so far. And no, a touch screen is absolutely not an improvement.

Retard. The knobs all do a specific thing. Say you have a drum track. The knobs and faders control that one track. Say you have a guitar track, a bass track, a vocal track, piano, etc. They all control the levels of that individual track for mixing, balancing, etc. Then there's a master, then there's EQ.
It all adds up but they all serve a purpose

Not related but the funniest thing about this infographic is that it's false and is falsifiable with a surface level google search

Medical industry

a board with a fader and basic EQ (2 shelves and a bell or two) is actually pretty tame compared to how much shit you can do on a computer with plugins
>>
>>107784876
>bloated
The fuck do you mean? Every knob has a specific purpose. I know this concept hardlocks the zoomer brain but complicated systems can be broken down and understood in terms of individual components
holy fuckin microplastics

I do everything on the master channel. If you have to use this tool you already misunderstood music production.
>>
>>107784876
Nobody is using analog mixers anymore. You are about 10 years too late.
>>
Doing shit ITB is completely possible, but if you're not careful, you could suffer from carpel tunnel or some other repetitive-motion injury. It's good to have a dedicated interface for specific functions, that way you don't have to use the mouse & keyboard for anything besides what they're best suited for. The only sequencer I have used that is better with a mouse/keyboard is Renoise.

AV is full of the most cancerous proprietary garbage imaginable
every fucking protocol, every fucking widget is vendor lock in, 'just one more license' nonsense and I fucking hate it
>>
>>107788436
Most industries do. What's your role?
The meaningful protocols are mostly all already reverse engineered

Give me an open source or even just license free sub 20ms audio over IP protocol.

How are you supposed to remember which settings you need whenever? Clearly, they weren't snapping pics all the time in the 1980s or something.

The expensive ones are motorized. Not that it really matters anymore. Only old people still use physical mixers.

it's easy if you're not a retard

Definitely peak Mount Stupid. In the year of our Lord 2026, physical mixers are practically everywhere that music is made.

Ideally about 50 more.
