Yes, NVIDIA gave people with older RTX card an official option to try out the new transformer upscaler model.
They have the option to choose between performance & improved image quality.

Meanwhile, RDNA3 card owners are still begging for FSR4 support on AMD's social media accounts.

This is my new PC build, shit is rough out here.

Going to have to buy the cheapest mobo I can get, because the budget is tight, but if it works it works

Going to have to reuse my used PSU, granted it is 1000W but cant afford to buy a new one

Going to have to reuse my NVME because can't buy a new one. If it gets bad like my 980 fails on my, I'll have to rip out the SATA 500GB PNY from my thinkpad.

Going to have to reuse my GPU, RX 6700XT because I cant afford a new one.

Going to have to buy the cheapest case I can get.

Going to have to skimp on the monitor cheapest 24" one because the budget is tight, $1000 no more.

Yea I would like to buy a 9070XT but I just cannot afford spending $2000. $1000 max and even that is high.

Sony even set up a dedicated QA team to help assess the quality of the new upscaling models for AMD.
They need to look good on large screen 4K HDR TVs.

>potential for issues on ada and low end blackwell

I just tested on a 5070 and 5060 ti on 2k. Results were really similar, difference between preset M and preset K was almost equally the same with preset k being roughly 1-2 fps faster in avg, L was a little bit too heavy for both cards, maybe around 7-9% less fps compared to preset K in the worst case i tested.

at 1440p DLSS balance with preset M now look like quality used to look in preset K but you may need to manually lower the sharpness from the nvidia app panel as its indeed really sharp in some games.

Preset L is the biggest question mark i have, the image is not good enough to really make upscaling from 720p to 1440p look good on a pc but i can see that there almost there.

My veredict is that both presets only make snese if you game on a 4k display that is bigger than 27* like a TV in which you can use preset L and do ultra performance or use preset M and enjoy a much better experience on 4k performance mode

Objectively, the best preset for image quality is L, but the performance hit is massive on rtx 20-30 series gpus, so it's been relegated to ultra perf. The next best is M but it is also a performance hit so it's recommended that you use it with performance mode.

preset L is some come to jesus moment in terms of sharpness and motion clarity, if they can get reflex 2 to make 30 fps feel like 60 people will unironically be lining up to buy 6090's with 8gb of vram in 2 years

no, they're still wording it in a retarded way. it should provide all of those improvements mentioned in the post for DLAA/Quality/Balanced, but the performance hit is so big that they want you to use it in performance mode.

Pretty much. There's a picture quality benefit but the performance benefit of upscaling itself is minimized.

I.e.
K - Not as good but more FPS
M - Better but less FPS
Both still run the game at higher FPS than native though
>>
>>107786368
preset k is like using msaa at 4x
preset m is using msaa at 8x
preset l is using msaa at 16x

they apparently cant make a once size shoe fits all preset so they are now putting the research/experimentation responsibility on the end user which imo is retarded but that's how dlss has always been i guess

may or maye not be solved even more due to v stripe rgb on the new 5th gen qdoleds

>so eye strain does not exist? entirely made up? are you taking up that battle?
I never said that, but the claim is it was only effecting QD-OLEDs, which is retarded to think.

Maybe its exacerbated for some people with them, but claiming youre throwing up from it is comical and clearly some genetic disorder. Works on my eyeballs anon

Maybe people should turn the brightness down or stop looking at them for 12 hours straight from too close
>>
>>107786318
If you can tank the fps loss then you run preset L, if you cant then you run preset M and if that its still too bad and you dont care about ghosting and shimmering then you go for K, honestly it may also depends of the game, a correct implementation, in some games were DLSS was implemented like shit i can see these new model saving their devs asses
>>
where can I find a unc friendly psu with 4 sata cables?
>>
>>107786389
No, you're not supposed to force it.
Different Presets are for different DLSS scaling levels, you're supposed to leave it default and let the game decide depending what you pick in the game settings for DLSS, i.e. Quality, Balanced, etc.

You're literally "using it wrong". But sometimes you have to, if you want to use it for older games, etc.
Just do per-game profiles depending on what quality level you use *OR* just set everything to default at let Nvidia handle it. People find a reason to bitch either way.
>>
>>107786454
>90cm is still a stupid distance to sit from a desk
Not if you have a 42 inch screen. As I said, even 100% scaling works fine from that distance.
>>
Trying to come up with a build that represents spending the most amount of money for the least performance, without being obviously retarded.

Kind of a "The prebuilt special"

>7500X3D
Kind of a "you knew you needed an X3D CPU but decided to save like $30 and lose a chunk of performance for it.
>8GB DDR5
You'll buy a second stick later, right? When the prices go down.
>9070XT
Paying $600-700 for this is what you were putting those savings towards. (9060XT 8GB is probably a better pick here)
>Some cheapo B650 MOBO, maybe even A650...
Motherboards are all the same, right?
>Peerless Assassin
Probably the best part in this build.
>Dramless SSD of some kind.
>>
>>107786467
in theory the preset will change automatically depending on quality mode you set in game, but that only works in very specific games and only after updating the streamline files to 2.1.0 for now. you can force this functionality by forcing quality mode per game in the nvidia app thoughever.

>but the claim is it was only effecting QD-OLEDs
I have never claimed that, people have gotten eye strain from woleds, lcd (no shit) too
but it appears woled subpixels are less eye straining than qdoled since people swapped to it from testing qdoled first

>but claiming youre throwing up from it is comical
yeah that was from comedic effect and from redditors reported posts in the past, I know people here can't pick up on nuance and take everything literally
I have never gotten a headache, nausea any of the sort
I have gotten blurred vision from the shit
which I wonder if there was something wrong with me during that period, if the coating on that specific monitor is actually severely that bad, plastic gloss coating warping colors, or if all qdoled glossys are like this, but it's not since they use different coatings all of them, it was truly horrendous
matte qdoled in comparison did not behave like that and did not give eye strain to the same extent or if even at all, at the same time I could see the fringing still, but it was not as bad as the one before, but as rtings also report the matte coating REDUCES fringe compared glossy on the 4k 32" qdoleds, so it might be purely the subpixels or not, still not sure

>Maybe people should turn the brightness down
had zero effect, I used both full blast, nothing to do with too much brightness, the glossy was straight harsh

>120MM AIO Cooler
HP's and Dell's love to put 120MM AIO's on their higher end chips. Which costs more than a good air cooler and performs worse.
>500gb Dramless SSD
For some reason prebuilt companies are also against giving good sized drives.
>5060ti 8GB
Prebuilt companies love this GPU. Even though it's more expensive than a 9060xt 16gb.
>Overspecced PSU
Prebuilt companies don't want to deal with returns from bad PSU's. So Dell and HP often put 80 plus Platinum units into their PC's. So I overspecced the PSU here.

No but it can be a good idea.

What UPS are you looking at that is $400?

Good quality sinewave UPSes can be found for ~$150-250 almost anywhere depending on the wattage you're looking for it to support

The main caveat is you really need to get a proper sinewave one for electronics

A display is one of the most important PC interfaces; it's fine to talk about it in this thread.
32" LCDs used to be TV sizes, and many thought them to be too big to be used as monitors.
>>
>>107787068
And the 3070 was and still is massively better on average. In fact it still plays modern games relatively well because of DLSS, while the 6800 was obsolete on launch against the games of its day

its double the panel size.
double the complexity.
double the shipping costs.
double the retail space.
double the power draw.

New DLSS is awful for Ampere GPUs, I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I replaced RDR 2's DLSS DLL with the new one, and with Preset M I have severe performance regressions at 4k, and the only way to activate it is by using DLSS performance mode, balanced/quality gives you Preset K and Ultra Performance gives you the new Preset L.
>Native, no AA gives me 40-43 FPS
>DLSS Quality (Preset K) gives me 45-47 FPS
>DLSS Balanced (Preset K) gives me 47-50 FPS
>DLSS Performance (new Preset M) gives me 38-40 FPS
>DLSS Ultra Performance (new Preset L) gives me 50-52 FPS
my GPU is a 3060.

You're fine
Dram is just ram embedded into the SSD, that ram tells the sdd where every file is or might be, making everything slightly faster
The issue of dramless ssds is that the more you fill them up, they slower they become, so let's say you but a 1tb one, in reality you'll only be able to use like 800gb ir you don't wanna lose performance
