Wyh is AI so deeply hated by the public?
>>107786093>the publicno, not even close.normgroids aren't frothing at the mouth about it, nor are they singing its praises. They're just using it unconsciously and don't give a fuck. The only cheers/jeers it gets are from losers on the internet with nothing better to do than fling monkey shit at each other.
Slave mentality. People have grown accustomed to the plantation and they fear being taken off of it.You need to understand that normalfags fucking love the idea of people 1000 years from now still driving 2 hours to work, to sit in a cubicle for 8 hours a day.NPCs hate change.
>>107786093Most people don't hate it, those who do have been told to hate it by the leftist media they consoom
>>107786093only seething artfags hate AI, every other person, people that actually work and produce value appreciate AI.
irrational hate of the new thing as they perceieve it as a direct threat to their lifestyle (slave away on a job you hate while producing zero value whatsoever) as well as increasing competition (good) in their domain of work
>>107786116this and it isn't change either. AI is just more algo analysis you can use. normies are duped by it cause they have pea brains and it spits office speak that they are programmed to obey
>>107786093Because there is no immediate benefit to the average person. Instead it seems to negatively impact the average person overall. Not that hard to understand.
>>107786148>a direct threat to their lifestyle (slave away on a job you hate while producing zero value whatsoever)And what sort of lifestyle do you think the AI revolution with leave them with instead?
Fear of permanent unemployment. Fear of death. Fear of seeing their kids starve. Fear of the destruction of society. In a word, wagecuck fears.
>>107786115fpbpmost people are ambivalent about it and simply use it whenever they need to
Because it keeps getting shoved into people's faces?Like these stupid pop-up AI chat windows every site now has or all of Windows?
>>107786148>>107786165Eagerly awaiting your response, anon. If people's fears are irrational, then what new and better way of life should they be looking forward to once AI has eliminated the value of their labor?

>>107786287>nooo you don't get it, the billionaire who owns the 128-trillion-parameter AI will still need experts like me to talk to it!Is this the only cope you guys have?
>>107786093Using up all the resources (water, electricity, ram, copper, switches, cabling etc), taking jobs, creating mindless slop, stealing creative works from people to repackage and resell back to people, all the while offering no tangible benefit to anyone. >>107786116NPC's also like to have money they can use at their discretion without the government getting involved or corporations (visa/mastercard) telling you what you can and cannot do with it (social credit score incoming via digital id). You fucking retarded mouth breathers have no idea what is coming. Mostly because you just sit there gaming and jerking off but cannot fathom how this will be used for evil.

>>107786265>If people's fears are irrationalThey are. >>107786093Everyone outside of the tranny lefty crowd is neutral or positive towards it.
>>107786093I think 90% of it is down to corporations being so forceful in trying to find use cases to justify the insane spending. People were already fed up over all the tech bro scammers and corporations shilling NFTs 24/7. Then when AI came along they just started shilling that instead in basically the same exact way.People like and use stuff like ChatGTP or Gemini. What they don't like is every customer support now being retarded AI chatbots, social media being 90% Indian AI spammers, and every single website and program having useless AI powered "summarize" features.
>>107786093it really depends on which point of view you talk about>in terms of forms of art, the general public despises ai because its works often come across as soulless and have that unsettling feature called the uncanny valley. artists despise ai because it often is trained on their work without their permission>in terms of coding, both the public and coders despise ai for making what is often times low quality code, resulting in many pitfalls. try microsoft with 30% vibe coded code, windows 11 is known these days for being massively unstable.>in terms of ecology, people despise ai for consuming way too much water resources>that's not to mention the current ram shortage>people hate the corpos who attempt to cram ai to every possible space, since the latter apparently thinks ai can replace the ability to take a shit and breathe.>generally speaking if you rely on ai too much you lose your own problem solving skills, creativity and such>even more examples that i cant be bothered to list
>>107786116The people that run offices did not like the work from home thing and demanded everyone come into the office
>>107786520i did read a nice article that tackles the problem solving part, by having ai force you to make use of your brain more than less, and i personally condone such an approach.https://ia.net/topics/turning-the-tables-on-aieven more, there are local language models (see >>/g/lmg if you wanna know more) which work directly on (You)r hardware, though performance varies and i assume you have a computer that is capable enough to run say most vidya, this tackles the water consumption issue that comes from using llm datacentres
>>107786574as much as i like the article though, in a way it is also an advertisement for whatever their word document program is, which i dont use at all

>>107786624>Like what?Like people did in every instance of this happening throughout history of mankind?>How will they afford to do so?By doing something else, evolving and adapting.>What jobs will be left to human beings? As I already said, for now the biggest breakthrough of AI was the ability to create smut locally which is not a concern unless you are a degenerate with a crippling porn addiction. You can relax because your generation won't have to deal with the consequences of the totally upcoming ai dystopia (source: trust me bro) so you will get your fair share of slaving away if you so desire. There are and there will be plenty of jobs that AI won't be able to do and just like with previous industrial revolutions and inventions that killed off a bunch of jobs new jobs will be made not to mention the impact in all domains of life which is not reduced only to a bunch of people getting fired. It didn't happen overnight and millions weren't suddenly left without a source of income to die homeless on the streets, the changes took decades to be enforced and they resulted in an increase of productivy, reduced cost of products and increased economic growth.>UBINobody will ever pay for simply existing.

>>107786977I've yet to see a single reason for your optimism re: people being freed from the cofines of jobs they hate. It's magical thinking to assume that once AI has eliminated massive numbers of white-collar "zero-value" jobs that The Market will suddenly produce better, more fulfilling jobs in numbers that won't produce a massive wave of unemployment. Most people I know would be happier doing a shitty office job than working the mines, but who knows, maybe we're in the minority!>previous industrial revolutionsFamous for their equitable treatment of workers, whose misgivings definitely proved to be completely irrational.
>>107787211zero value jobs will always be safe since those are management jobs which also happen to be the ones who get to decide who gets replaced
>>107786093The value of art (in any medium) is the human expression behind it. AI apologists know this even if they won't admit it; otherwise they wouldn't feel the need to lie about and/or hide their use of it so often (and demand the right to do so).
>>107786093I hate AI because I think it will lead to the death of creativity and the death of the social parts of the Internet. Facebook, while it was never a bastion of quality, is now completely filled up with AI slop. It's a dire place to go visit. While visiting my parents, my dad was watching YouTube fail compilations with voice-commentary clearly written and read out by AI. The quality was so awful, and these content farms just push out this garbage to the point where it will eventually fill every orifice of the Internet.I don't care about the productivity or the effects it'll have on the job market. My own job is probably at risk (air traffic control) eventually but that'll run its course. I care much more about how it'll affect culture, general intelligence and critical thinking. These things are already scarce but it'll become much worse when everyone stops thinking for themselves.
>>107786093It isn't. The general public tend to not think about it at all.
>>107786977>UBI>Nobody will ever pay for simply existing. This, and at which point does unemployment benefit transform into this "UBI" and how can governments then magically afford to pay it in a larger quantity to a larger proportion of people? It's not like they're planning to kill off enough people to make it possible? Because of low quality spammy slop produced by indians, same thing happened with crypto back then. Great tool at the hands of everyone else (including subset of nogs) could result in great art, but it all turned to shit when indians touched it and flood the internet with low quality repulsive shorts, images, bots.
>>107786093The fantasy: AI will bring in an age of plenty and will free humanity. The reality: Shitty glorified chatbots will be shoved into everything in a rabid scam to defraud investors to build shit that will never actually make money where the general public will both foot the bill and face both short and long term negative consequences leading to the eventually and no-doubt drawn out collapse of everything. Those responsible will never be brought to justice in any official fashion, as history has proven, and so the only pragmatic option for the general public is to take up arms now and kill them in the midst of their action instead of waiting. To take up rifles and just start shooting them in the head.

>>107787380Yours is an absolutely rare and sane post.I'm a millennial, born in the mid 1980s.Nowadays I firmly stand by my observation, that the skateboarding was the last, true youth culture. Which ended some time during the mid to late 90s.Every other craze which has followed since have become things and activities of observing rather than participating. At the turn of the millennium, there was an outlier hybrid which included both: the global Pokemon fandom phenomena. At least kids, youth and young adults were conversing about what they observed on the TV and perhaps playing the cardboard game, later the video game with friends.Noteworthy mentions:>the LAN-party era before online multiplayer gaming (where multiplayer gaming and vidya became "alone" things despite playing together)>the Halo/Xbox1 phenomenon that was limited to the North American continentBoth these things preceded the "aloneness" of multiplayer gaming and video games in general.Since the advent of streaming video (predominantly due to YT and GoogleVideo and then Google's acquisition of YT and their most aggressive push towards its omnipresence) and the advents of social media, which then got put into a cauldron together with the smartphone...well since all of that happened, the whole world became an observatory where onlookers were gazing into the night sky (their screens) and admired "what's out there" whilst decreasing their own artistic or recreational activities...I mean... what do younglings do nowadays?Stare into their streaming video devices for hours and hours, observing. Or playing vidya, by themselves, albeit "together, online."What I'm getting it that this situation has reached a dire status even before AI became a thing. With the pandemic mindfuck still lingering on for I don't know how long, I've a hard time imagining any sort of culture or movement of genuine human2human contact emerging any longer.Soon there'll only be content form the slop machine.

>>107788591This is my current biggest concern with AI. As a tool it's incredibly efficient at processing data, and now we have more points of data collection than ever before. Imagine what you could do with all that data obtained. You could learn so much about human behavior and what molds it.
>>107789118>hebrewconspiracy theory, open racism, not an argument>h1bs/indiansconspiracy theory, open racism, not an argument>to lower wagesdid they?
To be fair, I have no problem with it in my work life. I’m starting to resent it because the videos are everywhere now, even TV ads. The images are everywhere. Any fucking tech article I see is about AI. Any finance article I read is about AI.I just like using it as a work tool. I don’t like having it shoved down my throat every time I do anything else.
Personally I don’t like the idea of AI producing art and, even worse, that the public simply doesn’t care if it consumes AI art so long as it’s entertaining.
>>107789442>conspiracy theory, open racism, not an argumentit's literally fact, it's not a theory. in the late 80s the NSF intentionally lied about a stem shortage with the goal of lowering wages to stem workers and those lies let to Democrat Ted Kennedy and George Bush Senior creating the immigration law that created H1Bs and student visas. The NSF director in the late 80s was jewish and congressional hearings in the 90s pulled up memos showing he intentionally lied to lower wages. it's the same reason the head of the EU wants to import a billion indians and why musk loves indians https://www.compactmag.com/article/the-costs-of-the-foreign-student-influx/https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1992/04/09/scientist-shortfall-a-myth/f4f88e0e-921e-48c3-9cae-8bb894de2588/https://www.chronicle.com/article/lawmakers-criticize-nsfs-1987-study-on-supply-of-scientists/>did they?a. those raises were less than inflationb. that doesn't account for all the new entry level jobs not given outc. that's a bullshit cherry picked image anyway with a snuck premise because it only has 1 year's worth of data when h1bs have been around since the 90syou're a piece of shit. every h1b and student visa is a piece of shit. everyone who hires h1bs is a piece of shit
>>107786708Jobs are tasks people have to do for others to get money in exchange. AI isn’t just replacing jobs, it’s also replacing hobbies. Imagine a thing human would do on a computer, AI could replicate it perfectly no matter what it is. What about physical labour? Robot doing it would cost less then the calories in grain used by a human doing that work. The only thing left would be stuff like sports or being theatre actor, and even that could maybe be done by a robot in skinsuit and nobody would be able to tell. The problem is not public opinion, but just the matter of public opinion even mattering. Most first worlders dislike watching AI videos, but if they can’t tell if video is AI then it does not matter what they think, extrapolate it into all actions human can take. If you would be given a bullshit job by state or something and that job can just be done by you paying for a robot that looks like you to do it or some super advanced AI agent to do it for you for less then your pay check then you can’t have fake jobs at that point. I am not saying this will happen in 2 years, but it could happen in 50 years, and it won’t be sudden, so how would you prevent this situation or make a working system in this situation.

>>107786093>the publicNot really. It's mostly gamers from what I see since, remember, NVIDIA/AMD/Intel all spent decades using games as their marquee thing. >>107786977The problem with people thinking that this will be like another Industrial Revolution fail to realise that Industrial Revolution was pretty much just one of a kind event. Before Industrial Revolution we needed 85% of people to produce food and 15% to be specialised professionals, military or the rich. We could not produce more goods, mine more resources or do big infrastructure projects because 85% of the population was too busy farming and there is limited amount of fertile land, so society was constrained by labour. After Industrial Revolution we were no longer constrained so much by lack of labour, at first maybe but with more technologies the limiting factor became increasingly natural resources. It might not look like it now thanks to our economic system distributing resources in about as good of a way as historically you could, but we are still constrained by resources or rather our ability to extract them as opposed to the amount of people working. Do you think the mining operations are constrained by not enough people becoming geological engineers and miners, or not enough people becoming power plant workers? There certainly are places on Earth where sectors of economy are dying because there is not enough people in that field, but that’s not because there are not enough people in general. People just chose not to go do those occupations or those occupations are too hard for large quantity of people to go there, which is what H1B was meant to be for originally. If there was enough jobs for everyone you wouldn’t have high unemployment and bullshit jobs where you do nothing because there would be huge demand for lots of people to go to those jobs, but there isn’t. We were able to offset the Industrial Revolution 80% job loss from agriculture by massively increasing our production, but to do that again with AI you would need to somehow also increase the resources. More energy and more raw materials to make us all manage more things.

>>107786093>AI is deeply hated by the publicIt's not.
>>107789796Leftists hate AI because it's just being used in the west to consolidate resources towards the already-wealthy. Look at the current GPU shortage for example, or the mass layoffs currently happening as jobs are being replaced by AI.If you look in China, optimism for AI is very high despite being a Communist country. Because the CPC is pretty involved in regulating AI to benefit the country and not a few billionaires, the people feel it's in their best interest to promote automation. Americans are perpetually anxious about automation knowing their government only cares about protecting the wealthy.
>>107786115Ruining the economy and job prospects is enough to justify hating it. If someone believes that UBI will happen, they are mistaken. They would rather wait until people die. If someone believes AI will make new jobs, they are wrong as well. If AI replaces you at the job you are fit to do, it will learn your hypothetical new job faster than you are able to learn and practice it to the level of being employable. Also, there is a problem of getting into a job without having the commercial experience, because companies don't want to train people. So you won't get that new job even if you want to learn that new thing.

>>107790074>marx advocated for open bordershave you ever actually read Marx before?https://monthlyreview.org/articles/marx-on-immigration/I suggest you do, because his view of immigration is probably a lot closer to yours than the Jews in power would have you think.Communists, Marxists, and Socialists do not support open borders. Generally they are on the side of "managed" immigration and not letting your country get flooded by migrants that drive down wages. Where they differ from the classic /pol/tard take on immigrants and borders is that Marxists also don't want to exploit and destroy other nations to force people to come to the Imperial Core for safety. US foreign policy is trapped in a paradox of wanting to exploit the third world and then being surprised when third worlders come to the US after their home was destroyed because they still need to earn money to live.Corporate-managed AI is basically the exact same thing except cutting out the immigrants. You still get job destruction and wage depression anyway but without the ethnic food restaurants that make immigration at least slightly culturally beneficial.

No, I'm not taking my meds.
>>107786093I tend to agree with the leftist on Mastdon that generating videos with AI is unethical because of the hundreds of gallons of water it uses, that is why I never do that (vid or image gen). But as for chatting I use AI frequently. The anti AI crowd always says AI doesn't give a factual answer it gives what sounds like an answer. And they are correct to an extent. They ignore the fact that DeepSeek, ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok have good fact checking abilities constantly modifying what they are saying. A better way for the anti crowd to think about AI is the machine is giving something that sounds like an answer and is wrong but then modules come in and correct it over and over into it becomes more accurate, and this happens in real time before the user sees the text.So the anti AI crowd is tribalistic. They are just waving a badge of loyalty on Mastodon when then condemn AI. Take them serious and listen to their ethical concerns but don't give into the mob mentality. People who are extremely anti AI are motivated mob mentality not logic. Just use AI responsibily via fact checking and admit when AI bullshits you.

>>107786093I'm copypasting this from the other thread: Because nobody wanted or wants AI. It's just something for inferior people. Using AI immediately signals that you have no talent of any sort, no drive to learn a skill and fundamentally that you have nothing to say or do. It's something for the retarded, basically. The general public (normalfags) understand this implicitly. Those who are a bit smarter understand that AI is genuinely harmful in all possible ways, ranging from crippling your own creativity and mental abilities to being active spyware working against you.If anything AI shaming should be a more pervasive thing.
