Here's my question:
I want a Bluetooth shitcans for gym, travel, and general purpose.
My options:
> Anker sound core space Q45
>Moondrop edge
One is 10usd more expensive than the other. Anker has pretty good ANC but I like coomsrop's IEMs and own some of them. Go.

PSA: The mini DSP flex kills speakers and will blast static at full volume after a power outage.
I came home after new years to find that my speakers had been blasting static at full volume for possibly a few days and one of the tweeters in my wharfedale diamond 12.2 was blown.
It must have been after a power outage given this has happened before and the microwave clock was flashing like a power outage occurred.

Fucking chink engineering

I've had a warranty issued for the ATH-M40x because the right side of the headphones stopped working within a year time. I got my moneyse back but now need a new pair of headphones. I liked the m40x but was just wondering if there was a better buy at this point or should I stick to the same since I liked it. My budget is still around 100€. I just want something durable most of all.

What do I do with it? Videogames and some music, nothing flac just spotify streaming, although im a rym fag I think its pointless for me to buy ultra high end headphones (also because no budget but it would still be a waste). I want to also add that I got a ixo22 steinberg audio interface and want to utilize this advantage and not plug in some shitty headphones.

I've been getting into the headphone hobby for a few months now but I still don't have any idea what frequency response really means. People throw it out there as this big problem with some headphones but what does that actually mean? I rarely if ever see it mentioned in reviews though so is it actually something important I have to track? Where do you even find information on it. What is it?

Chord Mojo2 is one of the DACs of all time.
>>
>>107795087
Frequency response is, for the most part, the only headphone characteristic that humans can truly perceive. A person directly perceives FR through the auditory system, relayed to the brain. Human hearing is remarkably imprecise. People can enjoy virtually any FR, a fact marketing departments exploit quite effectively. Revealing the technological shortcomings of overpriced devices isn't a viable option for marketers. Research has determined that certain FR curves appeal to the majority and are simultaneously neutral. The problem is that FR at the tympanic membrane varies significantly from person to person. Over-ear headphones exhibit substantial differences in FR at the individual’s tympanic membrane compared to measurement rigs above 3 kHz, and bass depth is also heavily dependent on fit. Nevertheless, FR measurements remain the most significant objective characteristic of headphone sound, and are generally the standard for evaluation.

You can find FR measurements there: https://squig.link/
The more closely a headphone’s FR matches a neutral target, the better it performs. Equalization is even more crucial for over-ear headphones than for IEMs and is more complicated.

Audio is probably the most stagnant and boring thing in technology. Even pencils have more development going on. The official standard-issue status-quo headphones are and will always be DT770 and HD600. Nothing ever happens, nothing ever changes.

Well, I do also listen for long periods of time and wear blue blocker glasses so having that extra comfort they seem to be rated for would be just as good as when I'm doing music or sound effects.

I got some M50X's but they aren't comfortable and pierce my ears at times.

75€ dt 270 pro retard is finally back for a small """review""":
>it's too bassy
it's not, no matter how good of a seal I get, normal amount of bass, "overkill amounts of bass" are nowhere to be found.
>absolutely 0 sibilance
also couldn't replicate, these have normal levels of sibilance for me, none on most songs but it does get annoying in poorly mastered ones like with most other headphones, this might be due to the hrtf of my ears though I guess, definitely not dt770/990 level though, it's fine.
>the bass distorts
also couldn't replicate, listened a lot on maxed out volume and probably lost some hearing permanently from that but couldn't detect distortion in bass.
They sound nice and everything, i'm not even mad (though would've liked more bass and less treble even more), it's just that solderdude probably fucked up his measurements or something, the gadetrytech squiglink seems to agree with my findings.
comfort: pretty good but I do sometimes still get my earlobe stuck under the pads, i'm getting used to fitting my ears inside the small pads more and more with time, my 55mm ears fit in like a glove.
cable: decent, isn't microphonic for me, plus the 3.5" isn't recessed or anything and any random aux cable works fine.
build quality seems nice but I dislike the cheap sound the light plastic headband makes when I leave it on my desk.
very stupid nitpick: I thought the earcups were supposed to rotate downwards (mdr m1 style) and was one of the reasons i boughted this (i like when headphones sit flat on my desk) but... no it's actually the other way around, completely ponitless and just makes it annoying cause they rotate in a useless position half the time i pick them up, does anyone know if a passive channel inverter exists? would fix this problem as they're otherwise simmetrical and the jack plugs either way, strangely it doesn't look like it does.
>inb4 just use eqapo
i want the channels inverted on every device and to not affect other headphones.
>>
>>107797078
also some facts for those that care about the included usb-c dongle, which no review has ever covered yet:
-it supports the windows built in audio effects (yes i know they're pointless when eq-apo exists but it's nice that you don't have to install shit for those to work), no other dongle i've ever used does this.
-for some reason only 8000Hz and 48000 Hz 16 bit is supported, not even 44100 Hz 16 bit, also no 24 bit, very strange limitation.
-volume output isn't as loud as a chinkshit dongle (70% as loud as my JCALLY JA56) but isn't eu-cucked like the apple dongle is either, also no difference in volume on android.
-the dongle audio device name is "DT 270 Pro", it's supposed to be strictly part of the headphone and not sold separately, although it does work with any other headphone (of course) and they'll probably list this under the spare parts for it.

>>107796957

Nice review. If the sibilance is too bad, you could try the tissue mod, it helps out on a lot of these beyer cans.

>>
>>107797231
>you could try the tissue mod
I know about the toilet paper mod and did think of this, but i don't want to start messing around with it yet, also i'm paranoid about messing up the pads taking them on/off (realistically not an issue but autism) and no spares are available yet.
>If the sibilance is too bad
I don't think it is, i would prefer a bt less of it but i'm also liking how it sounds on well mastered recordings and you can't really filter out sibilance without lowering the entire treble range down (i think)
I might also be interested in some pad rolling (since these use classic rounded lip into groove style pads and no clips or particular shape) but nobody seems to have experimented with that yet and I'm afraid nobody ever will if these end up being as popular as the 240 pro were, also the stock pads are already quite nice (especially in this price range where you usually get 1mm thick pleather like on the m50x and 7506).
I'm thinking a 3d printed adapter to fit the slightly bigger and similarly tuned 700 pro x pads could improve comfort while sticking to a genuine easily obtainable beyer part that looks like the original pads.
Another interesting mod might be just removing the original headband (which is replaceable so it can be unclipped) and putting a zmf pilot pad on it instead, the buttonable 770 headband might also fit???
Basically you could probably increase comfort further (which is already pretty good btw) to turn this into a poor mans 700 pro x is what i'm saying.

One of those ZMF crescent snaps might work too, not sure which is more comfortable between that and the Pilot pad.
>>
>>107797078
Are these made in Germany?
>>
>>107797078
other stuff I forgot to mention before/couldn't because of the character limit:
-the plastic headband seems to have a couple of extremely thin (very hard to see/feel) perfectly straight "cracks" at the sides which is interesting because there have been reports of the 700/900 pro x headband breaking and cracking in similar places, my guess is that they did this to prevent having this same issue on the 270 pro, it serves as strain relief to prevent stress of the plastic from building up in that areas, or at least, that's my theory.
-I can confirm that the passive noise isolation is in fact pretty good, as stated in most reviews, it halves the volume of most sounds, and decreases the sound of my own voice by a fuckton making it actually kind of hard to understand what I sound like when I wear these.
>>
>>107797634
yeah a smaller pad might work better for these.
>>107797636
unfortunately no, they're made in china, but it makes sense considering the price/performance, there's no way they could make these without the help of a chinkshit sweatshop.
And also, the headphones it competes with (7506/m50x/ft1/hd 569) are also all made in china, price is one of the most important factors when making an entry level studio/hifi headphone at the 100€/$ price range, i'm not too mad at the decision of making these in china, it's kind of mandatory here.
