Why use a physical calculator when there's a computer sitting right there? The software option is clearly superior.

Why are all the RPN calculators so fucking expensive?

Because it's actually a great entry method. DM42 will eat any arbitrary sized expression.

See pic.

I know how to use RPN, but even a beat up old HP11C goes for $50
>>
>>107789762
It's been abandoned by HP as TI and Casio have eaten the student market. Testing monopolies killed competitors, and TI and Casio should have to pay a tax on profits for at least 25 years to fund upstarting calculator competition (er just be dissolved by the courts).

isnt the HP-12C relatively cheap? i know it's for financial stuff but if you're doing basic operations it should work
im retarded though

I got an HP-37E from goodwill for $1 that I'm thinking of getting a power supply for. I'd do the battery terminal replacement mod but I damaged part of the calculator's body trying to disassemble it that I'd rather not risk damaging it further

Look at that tasteful violet-cyan labeling, the subtle aesthetic of it.
The thick textured TV remote ABS plastic.
The pastel red&blue logo at the top right, with the holographic silver graph line going through it.
Oh my god, it even has an authentically 90s blue-on-green LCD.

I never argued using a physical calculator is more efficient or anything like that. You're making me into a straw man.
I need a good calculator primarily because of university. And now that I've learned to use a calculator as insanely powerful as the HP 50g I have absolutely no interest or need for learning yet another system. And this is an actual engineering calculator, it includes features that I need that you'd never think of if you were doing just academic math.
Also, HP RPN calculators are just objectively the coolest things ever. That's reason enough for me to use them.
