I did that once, and it wasn't even indians. We ran for years using my reverse engineered hack job with 0 problems. Until they wanted to push out an update and I had to admit we hadn't been using their software. They then gave me the runaround for nearly a year refusing to tell me what was wrong, just failing it and pointing to the shitty documentation. Demonstrating that mine was generating bit-for-bit identical output to their software just enraged them further. Their system wasn't "conforming" either, but they gave themselves a pass, whereas I had to figure out what they wanted it to do by trial and error. I learned not to make assumptions like that. I had one just the other day where rather than have people click-click-click 300 times I figured I'd just put it in a loop and call the endpoint 300 times. Turns out the remote script puts a log entry in with only 1sec granularity as a primary key so it would just fail most of the queries. Putting in a sleep(2) fixed it, but it took me longer than 5 minutes to figure out why the first one would work but the other 299 would Error 502. I was looking for regenerating tokens and shit because it DID use a token that regenerates but it apparently didn't care if you used the same one, it just had a stupid DBA is all.

I think this is accurate. About 10 years back now, at my previous company, there was one Indian guy (in a different state) who would intentionally spread his questions around a bunch of tech people even if we bent over backwards to help him (or often do the work for him). We found out by chance after just chatting on break times that we were all encountering the same thing from this guy. We worked out that he was smart enough to know his questions were retarded and if he spread them out so he only ever asked one person a small amount of retarded questions then he was less likely he would be exposed as incompetent. We all stopped helping him but some other poor saps who never noticed were probably continuing to help him.

Forgets to change how notifications are sent for monitoring things like RAID, NAS, etc.

Shit hits the fan at the law office.
email and file server starts being REALLY slow. shits disappearing, everything is blowing up and falling apart.
He goes in to the server.
The "best practice" RAID 10 he insisted he created has been dropping drives over the last couple of months.
We NEVER would normally use a raid 10. we used either raid 5 or raid 1. with one or more spares.
He had used ALL the drives in the raid 10 with no FUCKING spares.
We never got the notices because of the email issue.
He starts damage control.
Sundown happens.
Crickets...

Now I have to go in to this and try and figure out what can be done.
I'm an old DOS guy but trying to use microsoft servers with a command line only interface is a giant pain in the ass, and he didn't document any of his nonstandard (for us) ways of doing things.
Find out that basically the OS drives are running on what is left of that mirror.
The raid 10 that all the data was on has lost every drive that made recovery possible.
The backups we had setup (constrained by their being cheap) had not backed up their most important data.
for some fucking reason the senior partner of the law firm had put about 20 gigs of MP3's on the server. That shit all got backed up (because of course it did).
The symform raid 96 remote backup that my boss had wanted to use, could not backup the data with the internet connection they had.
When we tried to recover the data the restore process would have taken 20 years and we got about 10% of the data back (mostly MP fucking 3's).
our company got sued though there was some kind of settlement.
I don't remember a lot of the details.
I ended up leaving the company around that time.
They never fired casper.
no idea why.
he moved to seattle and they continued to use him for several years after.
don't know where he is now.
hopefully in hell.

One summer I was working construction out of town paving roads. Near one town we had to split the road to put in a drainage pipe, and pave over it after. One of the local boys was a retard and would watch us work all day, not saying anything just gawking and waving his arms and hands around with a smile lf facination. Anyway, the day we filled in the trench with aggregate this retard boy got too closed was buried beneath the road probably 3-4 feet down, and we just paved over it without saying a word. No one asked or came looking for him
