Real talk, I want to keep my DDR4 RAM not because of the price increases I just don't want to buy another 32gb they are already out of my price range

if I were to upgrade to an i7-13700k or an i5-13400f for starters how much more noticeable the upgrade would be since the 13-14th gen is the last DDR4 gen

why don't you ask the general instead of shitting up the board with your retard spam?
herbs
>>
>>107797097
13th gen K series are not safe, you might get a good sample which doesn't degrade or you might not be so lucky. Stick to 12th gen i7-9

generals are all incessant shitposting and flamewars, fuck em

OP you didn’t tell us your current specs.
Also, if you are planning to use some shitty ddr4 3200 CL18/20 then just stick with what you’ve got. Especially if it is AM4.

However, if you invested in good DDR4 4000 CL16 like I did back during the good times, you have some memory worthy of what you are trying to do

Scrolling through my old Newegg purchases reminds me of all the good deals we had. The next year I got 64GB DDR4 4000 CL18 for $128.

However, it was not as fast as the G.Skill from the previous year because the G.Skill was only running 1.1v and the Neo Forza was running 1.2v

>32gb DDR4 G Skill Aegis

You will see zero uplift buying an Intel gen 13 and pairing it with than bargain bin ram. You can’t OC that memory without loosening up the timings to the point of diminishing returns.

And let me rub a little extra piss in your eyes here friend
>>
I think my collection of memory is worth like $20,000 now.

I was really only buying the best I could get at the time. When I bought my 128GB DDR5 5600 there was no faster memory in that quantity.
>>
>>107797806
just curious, how fast can you get all 20k worth to sell? liquidity wise?
>>
>>107797630
>buy 2x16G 4000 c16 DDR4 memory

>R5 5600x unstable at default 4000 XMP
>current R7 5700X3D unstable at default 4000 XMP so I run it at 3866 c14
le shit IMC lottery face
>>
>>107798885
I run it full speed with a 5700G.
You will never get a glued together AMD cpu to work. Pickup one with a monolithic die and see godlike frequency, timing, and MT
>>
>>107798826
No idea and I’m not planning to sell. I have a lot of fun messing round with my hot rod ram and my collection of Zen 3 APUs.
>>
If you want to upgrade go for a 14600K or don't waste your time and money
I would even recommend 14700K/14900K but your RAM sucks and it will just bottleneck most CPUs you could pick, so don't
>>
>i7-13700k
it's a good cpu, made me stopplaying games since it can explode when playing unreal games.
>>
>>107797691
keep it, and overclock your setup, there is nothing wrong with it, it will keep up with a decent ram oc,

I wouldn't consider raptorlake unless you need the extra threads.
>>
>>107797417

This sounds like good advice, but why just Intel?

not that guy but am4 isn't really an upgrade from the 10700k, unless you need more threads.

Enjoy your stuttering.
>>
>>107797806
Shame that 64gb ddr5 sticks are just soo slow compared to 48gb ones. Sk Hynix also hasn't shown us their 32gbit m-die and then the ramageddon happened
>>
>>107797806
It isn't. Nobody really buys used RAM for moon prices just because the market is shit right now. Maybe that changes at some point but right now the used market is flooded with RAM.

>>
>>107802276
the cache is less important on the apus because you can run the fclk really high, they usually top out between 2266 and 2500 mhz

t. used to run 2300fclk in 1:1 mode on a 5600g, latency was like 50ns, but ive seen people push it close to 40 if they have a good memory kit.
>>
>>107797097
DDR5 just isn't the upgrade that DDR4 or DDR3 were. I'm waiting for DDR6 before I ditch DDR4 because so far there's just been no reason for me to switch over to DDR5.
>>
>>107797097
i got 40-60% more gaming performance on the same memory kit going from 5800X to 14700K
should be even more for you since the 5800X should be faster in theory (who knows in practice, the numbers you find online make no sense)
>>107797417
totally fine if you buy them new, though i don't know how many new 13700Ks are still around so chances are OP is looking to buy used
don't do that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLumZn8DZVA
>>107797691
3600 16-18-18-38 is capable of more
3200 16-18-18-38 might be kinda shit
>>107798885
FCLK lottery, not IMC lottery
though the number of people which have demonstrated 100% daily stable 2000 FCLK on AM4 are basically zero
you can use it for benchmarks, but inevitably there's going to be some workload where it falls flat on its face
>>107801933
i don't even think you can overclock RAM on a 10700
obviously the cores are locked down hard, try BCLK and it kills itself
>>
The performance difference will not be worth it. 10th gen is still really good.
>>
>>107802947
memory should be tweakable if he has at least a b series board, cant remember if SA voltage is locked on that platform, but its still on the older skylake memory controllee so you can run it at pretty high speeds and get the latency realy low.
>>
>>107803073
>cant remember if SA voltage is locked on that platform
they did that with 12th gen
then they reversed course with 14th gen
typical intel bullshit lmao
>but its still on the older skylake memory controllee so you can run it at pretty high speeds and get the latency realy low
yep, skylake memory controller is based, it could probably do 5000+ gear 1 if they kept it for 10nm
>>
>>107797758
if its a 1.35v kit, he can run it at 1.45-1.6v depending on the ic and tighten the timings a bit at the minimum, might need a fan though. ive bought some pretty shit green sticks before, , you can always tighten them up to an extent. Trcd is usually the one you cant tighten much on garbage ram.

depends on the ICs used. micron scales negatively with voltage above 1.3v while samsung overheats like a mofo and loses stability above 1.4v
>>
>>107802276
yeah you really dont know shit nigger.
