FAQ:
>How do I activate Windows?
HWID2 generates and registers a permanent legitimate license on MS's activation servers
github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts
Usage: paste this into Powershell, run.
irm https://get.activated.win | iex

>and Office?
Same link, select Ohook option
You can also use Office.com if your needs are very minimal
or try OnlyOffice/LibreOffice and set it to save in MSOffice file formats

>What version should I install?
>W10 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2021
Binary identical to Enterprise except no MS Store or apps
Preinstalled with: Edge & Win32 system apps
10 years support on "IoT LTSC", 5 for "LTSC"

>W11 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2024
Same as W10 version except:
UI written in React Native aka JavaScript including: Start, Taskbar and Explorer that lags even on i9s
Use only if you fell for the 12th+ gen Intel meme and need the new CPU scheduler
Wait for IoT LTSC 2027 if you can

>Installing apps on LTSC
Use WinGet/Scoop or install MS Store in CMD with: wsreset -i

I mean, if it works, it works. Worst case scenario just re-activate it with MAS Ohook
If you don't want Office to change with updates you should install a fixed release (Office 2024, Office 2021, etc) instead of using Microsoft 365
>>
>>107801134
if it's still activated it should be fine, but so far Massgrave hasn't reported on any changes to the activation system

This. If something changed in the backend when it comes to Office turning into MS 365 Co-Pilot Whatever The Fuck then they would've mentioned it. Ohook probably works totally fine still.

Power management is one of those small, but utterly-critical-in-the-real-world things where Windows comprehensively roflstomps Linux's entire bloodline to death.
When I see posts like this, no matter how reasonably-written they seem, you just know you're dealing with some flerfer-tier misunderstanding of how reality works at best - and someone who hasn't taken their meds for two months at worst.
>>
>>107803210
Then why was I getting 5-6 hours of battery life on Linux compared to the 3-4 hours I'm getting now? Am I 'misunderstanding reality' of picking up the charger block more times now than before?
>>

In my experience, memescripts.
Freetards are never as smart as they think they are, and will run any DELETE_BOTNET.BAT.EXE, MAX_PERFORMANCE.CMD.EXE etc. file they can find, because they can't configure Windows themselves.
Especially in your case, the latter is likely - what laptop built in the last 10 years only has 3 hours battery life?
So I deduce: you have some ewaste laptop that you've disabled all the power management.
You shot yourself in the foot, and are now bitching that you're bleeding, like all people pretending to be victims.

It's only been 6 days since I have installed Windows 10 Enterprise IoT with 0 memescripts you mentioned. I don't give a shit about muh botnet or performance because it's for fucking work. Also, I have been using Windows in my PC since forever and don't participate in console war-tier faggotry between OS like you are, retard. I only installed EndeavourOS in this laptop for because it's easier to develop shit on linux when you're a ComSci student.
>Especially in your case, the latter is likely - what laptop built in the last 10 years only has 3 hours battery life?
Have you read what I said? My Dell Latitude 7490 last for 5-6 hours before which coincides with real world testing in 3rd-party reviews. I only get 3-4 hours now with windows.
>So I deduce: you have some ewaste laptop that you've disabled all the power management.
You have shit deductive skills. I literally have it in battery saver to make it last longer. Kill yourself faggot.

Should I bother getting Win7 to work on it for "maximum" performance or should I skip all the pain and just go with W10 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2021?

Im asking again, not expecting much but i dont know what else to do. I installed windows 10 IoT LTSC and windows update seems to be broken, ive ran sfc /scannow, i have enough space in my drives, ive ran the troubleshooter, ive typed the error code into google and attempted multiple fixes, im starting to worry its a hardware issue, but my games run fine, and that in theory should be harder for my pc to do... i dunno, im sorry for asking to be spoonfed but im not sure what to do. I should mention, the computer is working, in the sense that it turns on and runs the apps i want to run, its just windows update that refuses to work

How do I stop my computer from thrashing? Are there some settings I could optimize?
I have 32 GB of RAM and I'm usually at 70% RAM usage but at random intervals the disk IO usage of the SSD that holds my pagefile will jump to 100% and stay there for 5-10 minutes and the computer is borderline unusable for that time
>>
>>107808979
>32 GB of RAM and I'm usually at 70% RAM usage
You probably have a lot of crap/bloatware loaded, take a look at all the stuff starting up with something like autoruns from sysinternals (can get Sysinternals Suite in the store if you use that or just download from official sources) and have a look in your task scheduler to see what might be running that is bloat. Also you can use resource monitor to see what is going on.

Left my PC on for a bit, then came back to only the backlight of the monitor turned on. I wiggled the mouse and saw picrel. So far I've tried every single option just to get "error we/you can't do this".

Seems like I ultimately have to go with reinstalling Windows but is there some way I could get around it? Just don't want to have to delete a shitload of games from my main drive. Also normally I leave my PC on and this has never happened. Did my SSD shit itself or something?
>>
>>107809387
i'd say it's not likely that it was the SSD since you usually notice slowdowns and weird behavior before it dies, but if you believe that it's the case, then backup anything important before proceeding. You could use hiren's boot CD or a linux live distro to access your drive. Hiren's has crystal disk info in case you want to check the SMART data of your drive

If you can't even access Safe Mode, you could try repairing your install with a USB with the Windows iso.
>>
to repair windows what do you suggest?
in place repair upgrade or using the sfc and dism stuff?
>>
>>107809919
>dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
into
>sfc /scannow
and then a restart. If the problem is still there after the restart then look into using an ISO of your edition to repair upgrade the install.
>>
>>107809387
you can try running recover/repair from an installation USB, anon. No crystal ball to tell us what went wrong, maybe you can get to a CMD prompt from the bootable USB and look at the SSD from there.

a few of questions
how old is your CPU
does it hang for several seconds to almost a minute when you hit shut down

>>
>>107812534
At this point really using either IoT LTSC 2021 or 10 Enterprise with the ESU enabled is basically the same thing. The amount of things that straight up don't run on 21H2 is minimal.

Do we know that one won't be shitted by jeets? Is there any indication they'll walk back the React Native trash?
>>
>>107814844
different people use different video gen, different video gen has different levels of progress
>>
>>107815074
OP just assumes it will be more stable, there's no way a theoretical LTSC 2027 will remove React Native because a lot of UI components are integrated in there, only a Windows 12 would have a chance of ditching React, but it's almost guaranteed that it will be written by AI
>>
>>107814916
there are some projects going on but none that's mature enough to use reliably imo
>>
>>107815111
So unless we get a way to replace those components with our own, we're fucked.
>>
Funny how large chunks of the Windows UI have been written in HTML and Javascript since Windows 98, but it's only bad when Windows 11 does it (and in React Native, which is actually compiled).
It's almost like baby ducks are just inventing reasons to deflect from Windows 11 not running properly on their decade-plus old ewaste.

Best ways to run Steam and Galaxy on 7 nowadays? I can figure out installing and old version of Steam that still works, but I would like to know if and how I can use Steamcmd (or something based on it) to just install, update and play my library. From what I can read, it seems Galaxy 1.2 still works for installing and updating, I just haven't found where I can find a good version to install. Offline installers would still work for me, but I do like the option for keeping things up to date from time to time. Bit of a stretch, but has anybody figured out client alternatives for them yet?

well, yes, actually. its flaws are noticeable even on a new system with a 9950x3d, 64GB DDR5 6000, and SN8100 PCIE5 SSDs.
>>

It's likely build around a command line tool that uses Linux block devices. So they would have to rewrite a big portion of the code base
