>try linux for the first time in 10 years>put linux mint 22.2 on USB key with rufus>boot>open GUI software manager from the start menu>write "steam" in the search bar, click on the install button>error message>try to uninstall a random software with "rightclick, uninstall" from the start menu (one of the libre office applications)>another error messageI eventually got steam working by using a flatpak, and I uninstalled successfully the same libre office app after rebooting. But both failed my tests on the first attempt. I noticed a lot of improvements since I tried linux 10 years ago but it's sad that it still feels like beta software nonetheless. And linux mint is supposed to be the most polished non-technical oriented user-friendly distro.

>>107801139>lust provoking image>linuxbe my wife already. but what the fuck did you say about fucking linux?
>>107801139okay but you're a furry, you will be put up against a wall and dealt with like the rest of the degenerates.
>>107801946>rest of the degenerates. So the whole Linux community?
furries are aryans from atlantis
sex with cats who dont understand computers
>>107801139> disregards bing bing wahoo distros> installs grandma's faceberg distro instead> bing bing wahoo doesn't just work> surprised pikachu faceBeing Ubuntu-based, Mint has a lot of old packages. If your usecase involves software that doesn't update on a geological timescale, Mint isn't a great starting point.

Bait thread, don't fall for it. Install arch based shit if you want to play games. Can't believe I'm solving a captcha for this. Pitiful non Linux chads
If OP is a furARYAN, he wouldn't have issues with Linux. Instead, he's a shitskin HMOFAnigger larping as white which explains the incompetence with Linux
>>107804492Correct, actual fur fuckers intuitively understand Linux. OP has failed their initiation and must return to Reddit
>>107801139>gui software managerJust use the CLI, it doesn't hurt. We learn so much Windows-specific stuff to master it, why not doing the same on Linux? Also for almost 15 years I've used Arch-based distros for personal use and Ubuntu-based distros for work, and they excelled at those. If you want to play games I recommend some Arch based ones, like Cachy or Manjaro.I personally don't like Fedora but I hear Bazzite is also decent for that.
>>107801139Your fault for installing Mint based on decade-old Reddit advice. Just use a normal popular distro like anyone else.
>>107805253But mint is number 2 on distrowatch, it's the 2nd most popular.
>>107804814Why would using a command line fix anything? A GUI is a just a front-end.
re-installing 22.1 since for some reason x11 is borked on 22.2 only Wayland works. Looking for other solution, Reinstall 22.1 was it. ..
>>107807019GUI frontends give you less info and are slower. Having more info is crucial if you're running into errors which might not even be "errors" but things like a package being part of a larger meapackage meaning you need to uninstall the metapackage itself not all of the individual pieces, or dependency bullshit because of how the distro you chose installed libreoffice for you.Better still is not going with an install that would put something like libreoffice on your PC for you in the first place. Go with Arch or Debian with no DE and install everything yourself and pay attention to dependencies. Then you'll know what's going on when you install libreoffice instead of having to google whatever the fuck Mint has did for you. Figuring out Linux is easy when you don't have to figure it out backwards from a bloated install's defaults.
I never understood why linux makes software installation so unnecessarily complicated.>download, install, runthat's how it should be, not whatever the fuck linux is doing
>>107801139linux only has one use case and it's not installing software. sorry, you're not the target demographic.
