I got a contract job that pays $5/hr
I've been waiting all christmas for an answer from my second interview just to be told that despite all going well they decided to pick another more prepared candidate... For an internship position. They got me waiting 3 weeks instead of telling me it before.

I got invited to a interview in a university meet and greet. In the interview the person was just sitting in the cafeteria and eating and told me to apply on their site. What the fuck was the point of that?
I looooove getting rejection emails and looking up the people that rejected me on LinkedIn. So far, I found these “talent acquisition “””specialists”””” rejecting me for software developer roles have a background in art studies, photography, English literature and fashion design. Boy, oh boy, they sure are “””specialists””” in seeking talents when they are qualified and know what they’re looking for!
Got rejected for warehouse operative position, it’s over. My career is now Lifetime NEET and I blame my government and society.
I quit my 80k job because of a number of reasons and it's been 5 months and i'm out of money. Grinding for cybsec but holy crap this market is bad right now.

>>107803936Nigga, are you 19 years old? Bitch jobs like that are the hardest to get, because everyone on the planet applies for them. I never heard back from Burger King in 2010 and wanted to kill myself, but I understand now that they never got back to me because they just picked a couple of application forms at random and hired those people. Skills are irrelevant for jobs like this.

Literally work at an AI startup with a skill set so niche that they really can't get rid of me without causing themselves a huge headache and rehiring somebody that costs even more.Hate poor people, simple as.
>>107804237>skill set so nichex doubt
I work at an AI startup and we have this employee with a niche skillset, but he is underperforming and slacking to our expectations because he thinks he is unreplacable and it would cost more to hire somebody else. Should I outsource his job to India and buy like two, maybe three, employees for the price of one?

will internship in software testing help me out in getting a job as a software developer? its unpaid so im thinking about it
How many jobs are you supposed to apply to before you get an interview now? I've been applying to jobs daily for a month now and I haven't gotten one response yet. And this is with 13 YoE in web dev. Back in the mid 2010s I would get multiple interviews within a week of starting a job search and that was when I had only a couple years of experience.
No, he died because he was militarily defeated. His palace was under siege, and in his starvation, he ate those weeds.Would've been pretty interesting alternate history if he had won.
This is a bit unusual, but I hear the US merchant navy is absolutely desperate for sailors. You have to go through their academy, and then in the job you spend 6 months at sea, but pay is $180k a year. I think I would do it if I couldn't get a job.
>>107805127>I've been applying to jobs daily for a month>13 YoE in web devhow is this even possible, any context? are you US based? make sure your cv isnt blank or something because this isnt normal, unless you apply to some crazy jobs
>>107805240I'm applying to any on-site job I see that I'm qualified for that's in the territory of the US, avoiding large corporations and remote jobs because I know those are too competitive to even try for anymore. I'm also avoiding jobs in high cost of living cities like NY, SF and Seattle. But honestly there are barely even any jobs that fit my qualifications anymore, so I'm only able to apply to like 3-4 jobs a day.
>>107805240Did you go on a job hunt recently with similar experience?
>>107805395im still in school but managed to land junior position after 2 months with few internships in the back so not really

What do I do if I'm stuck in a shitty help desk job? I know I'm not technically unemployed but it sure fucking feels like it, I've applied for countless sysadmin/programming/database jobs and nothing fucking works. I'm just stuck here resetting passwords all day. I have the degree. I have the git repo full of projects. Nothing I do seems to matter.
I think I might've just landed a job at starbucks

>>107805351>I'm also avoiding jobs in high cost of living cities like NY, SF and SeattleBut the pay for those jobs more than makes up for the cost of living. I'd rather be making 300k in Seattle than 30k in bumfuck Idaho.
>>107805559Network engineering/architecture. Usually the offers come to me, not the other way around.
>>107805561>But the pay for those jobs more than makes up for the cost of livingIt absolutely does not. I live in a 1500 sq ft house by myself in a peaceful low-crime 80% white town right now. If I had to move to a HCOL city, I would have to live in some shitty cramped apartment and live paycheck to paycheck, even on a 6 figure salary. It also doesn't make up for the fact that you're living in a multicultural crime infested leftist shithole, no matter how much money you have. I've lived in both SF and NYC before and the experience was miserable.
why can't the government just make some kind of centralized job site there you plug in your skills/experience/qualifications and you get automatically assigned jobs that best suite your career? I hate this jeet infested rat race
>>107805621That's communism
>>107805603>I HAVE to walk down dark alleys alone at 2 AM>I HAVE to play basketball in the hood with the boys>I HAVE to interact with homeless people at intersectionsOr you could just live in the suburbs like normal people and completely avoid brown people which seems to be your only gripe. Keep living in your "based redpilled ubermensch" 300 population hick town where a full set of teeth is considered rare and $15/hour is high pay.
My mother keeps pushing random internship opportunities on me, even though I have a very clear one in mind.
>>107805663The suburbs of those cities are the most expensive places on earth to live in. I live in a suburb of a small city in the south and bought my house for $250k at the peak of the real estate bubble a few years ago. The same house in an equivalent suburb of NY or SF would cost $1-2 million. Maybe even more since I don't think there are many 80+% white suburbs left in any major metropolitan area of the US anymore.
>>107805596Then why are you even posting in this thread?
I asked my uncle years ago if he could get me a position at the factory he works at, and he told me to go to school instead. "You're too smart for this line of work. You'll make way more money doing IT stuff, and you won't break your back in the process. You'll be the next Bill Gates!" Fast forward 8 years and I'm still a miserable unemployed faggot, only now I have a piece of paper that's supposed to be valuable except everyone else has one now as well. Meanwhile my nephew who was considered a bit of a retard now works alongside my uncle making $48/hour with matching retirement and goes on constant vacations/hunting trips to Africa. And my uncle just looks at me like "wtf is wrong with you" every time we have a family gathering. I hate my life and want to die.

Should I just ignore all promoted job posts on LinkedIn? They get hundreds of applicants in the first few minutes they're posted since I assume they're put at the top of everyone's search results. Doesn't seem like there's even any point in wasting my time on applying to these jobs.

>>107805561A. The difference in pay doesn’t come close to the making up for the difference in cost. Jobs with multiple locations I’ve applied to will be like $135,000 for NY position $115,000 for Indianapolis. That $20k does not make up for the difference in costs at all. My current comfy house was $250,000k much much much shittier places in the DC area or any more popular area are approaching a million. The difference in rent/mortgage is thousands per month on its ownB. Cities suck in every single way. I left downtown Chicago years ago and dread the idea of having to go back to a city and Chicago isn’t even big compared to NY. Everything about it sucks. Trying to get three miles is a pain in the ass. Public transportation sucks, traffic moves at 10mph, ubers are not even reliable, parking is expensive and requires repaying every couple hours so you can’t just go to someone’s place, leave the car and forget about it. You can’t go anywhere without it being a huge thing. Leave in the suburbs and commute and you’re looking at sitting in stop and go traffic for 30 mi and taking 1-2hrs to get in and then to get back. And there’s so many annoying people in the city that make so much fucking noise all the time. Fuck cities. Small areas are so nice

>>107814587>we're only looking for the BEST OF THE BEST, the TOP MINDSIf you're a White Guy and actually BEST OF THE BEST, actually a TOP MIND, why wouldn't you just go to OpenAI or something? The problem with the RW is that they have an extreme distaste for the masses, and also have their cut-off for what counts as elite as only a little bit lower than the libtards do, so instead they never build any real populist power because unlike the libtards they refuse to lend any power to the little people.
>evidence of exceptional abilitymf read the fucking resume
>>107815203>why wouldn't you just go to OpenAIbecause AI is not what they're selling it as, it's an impediment to getting actual work done, it's more actively harmful to normies than all the tiktok and youtube shorts put together, because i have a soul still
>>107815254All of that is just cope you're telling yourself because you wouldn't get hired there.
>>107812595>How well did you score?850>What were the hardest parts?the material wasn't very hard, it was mostly just memorizing stuff. the hardest part in general was figuring out which of the two answers in the multiple choice was "more" correct since the other 2 choices were usually more obviously wrong. Also, for these networking certs should I buy a managed cisco switch to practice on or will packet tracer be enough?
>>107814273depends on your prioritiesif you're giving up on tech that and they're giving you full time then sounds like a great job. unlikely you'll find anything better. If you still have hope in your heart then you should consider something closer that gives less hours just so that you have more time to study / apply for jobs. That being said if you're in a lot of debt I would still take that job.
I turned down 26$/hr because they said I wouldn't be working hardly at all and they asked me what I would be doing during the extensive periods of downtime, because I want to learn and collaborate with my future coworkers. It was also fully in person. Would you have taken a job like that?
depressing
>>107814587It's comical how broken this website is. The first time you load it the flag doesn't even appear in the right place when you hover over America. You have to refresh the site after loading it once for it to work properly.
>>107815411Where do you find jobs that pay only $26/hour? I unironically want to find a low paying dev job because there's way less competition for them and you probably have much better job security. But I never see any jobs paying less than $40/hr anymore.
I think the job market is actually getting worse, not better. Up until now every month on HN the "who is hiring" thread had more posts than the "who wants to be hired" thread but this month for the first time it's the opposite.
>>107815411I don't get why amerisharts are so obsessed with the idea of working hard. A job should be done well and on time and that's it, but they want me bending over backwards and self-flagellating to compete with my fellow goyim for scraps.Like, at some point, what am I even supposed to do? Let's say that I implemented what they wanted, I tested it and deployed it and monitored it and I'm carrying a beeper, what else am I supposed to do? Rewrite it in Rust because fuck you?
My family owns a manufactoring buisness. Wagies seethe.
Got a callback for an interview next week Monday. No email on Friday containing details about place and time. It’s over.
>>107815457what was the question?
XAI office... who tf would want to work here?
>>107815819when you realize they're moving from "arunachal pradesh" to that it makes a lot more sense
>coming up on 1 year job gapI'm considering putting "freelance (8 months)" on my resume but I know nobody will buy that shit
>>107815929I did that for my 2.5 years NEETgap after college and not many questioned it
I did it lads, I got a job. My second round interview curse ends at 5, and applications total only reached 413 over 1 year. >>107815929What >>107815929 said.
>leetcode hard>look inside>it's DPevery. fucking. time.
>>107816372>tfw the OA gave you a problem where the more difficult solution is the iterative/recursive solution, and NOT the DP solutionI figured this out too late. Wanted to kms.
>>107816372I hate dp too because not only is it the most abstract pattern, but it's also always bundled with other bullshit to make it incomprehensibly difficult. And all of the "problems" that use DP are always useless shit you would never encounter irl, like calculating how many different ways you can finger your asshole.
>>107816436dp[i] = dp[i-3] + dp[i-2] + dp[i-1]there, higher me. I'm a three finger man, MAX.
>About to do an interview while jet lagged lets go boys >>107803735Wait, you're only allowed to choose one answer? lmao
>associate swe>3+ yearsgo fuck yourself turbo niggers.
>>107816512sounds like aditya assinshit would be perfect for this role
>>107816517exactly the kind of shit they're going for. absolutely ridiculous. it's a smaller company so I'm not going to bother but I see large companies like IBM and the like do this shit, i check their company profile for similar titles, and 90% of them are fucking jeets with the occasional white person.absolute fucking fraud.
>tiktok feed gives me vids about being unemployed>twitter feed gives me memes about being unemployed>instagram gives me reels about being unemployed
>>107815347That tricky wording less wrong b/s is common across all vendor exams. Every test I've taken felt like they were written by ESLs.People pass with packet tracer alone but IIRC there were some quirks you have to account for that can make troubleshooting a lil weird. If you're a total noob, it'll be more helpful to get the real stuff. 2 routers, 2 switches for a basic collapsed core design should be plenty. Buy local on marketplace, craigslist, etc for the best prices. You'll prob need a console cable, usb>serial adapter, cable crimping kit and wire, too. Learning to make cables is a right of passage and a skill you'll never forget, much like riding a bike.
>>107815337if AI is so smart why wont it work around me?
Why are all the recruiters listed on LinkedIn job posts always jeets? I thought recruiting was solely the domain of white women.
>>107817151if the recruiter is a jeet, 90% chance it's a jeet only company. they're either going to scam you or they only hire jeets.Don't be surprised when you get a call the next day offering to provide you with "training" for $750 and then guaranteed job placement after the "training" in return for 5 - 15% of your first year's salary.
>>107816492They ended the interview (scheduled for an hour) after 25 minutes haha. (I am holding out hope that I did okay and they just wanted to go home early on this fine Friday)
what's with all the indian hate here?
>>107817203Why is IBM, HP, Chase, etc, mostly jeets when they aren't that competent? Surely it's not indian nepotism and c-suite executives wanting yes-men compliant subcontinent retards who will work for less? nooooooo?
About to take the Sec+ on a whimHaven't studied for it in yearsI'm so fucking annoyed I'll just do this cause I hate studying the same shit over and over again
>>107815510The only change I made to my application strategy was to simply ignore anyone with an Indian name about 2-3 months ago, follow-up percentages went way up as a result. It's racist because I decided to act on my recognition of patterns, there are certainly nice Indian people, but very few seem to want to talk to me.
>>107817223Well Mr. Timmy, if Indians are so stupid and incompetent how come we are the highest earning demographic in the West no matter what country we go to? And don’t just say nepotism, other groups came to the US before us and had an advantage, Indians only started coming to the US in serious numbers in the 2000s
