The concept that it was immoral wasn't yet a widespread belief. Artists then found the next thing to virtue signal about, and because they have absolutely no passion or enthusiasm for technology, nor sense of the wonder of technological advancement, they decided it's perfectly acceptable to attack it and tear it down as collateral. Meanwhile the tech guys are just playing with a cool toy they genuinely found interesting, with no intended harm toward artists.
