>The HP EliteBoard G1a, a fully functional PC installed inside a keyboard, has been shown off at CES 2026. It uses AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 Krackan Point CPUs and can support up to 64 GB RAM, 2 TB storage and power two 4K displays.Mac Mini is now obsolete
>spill my drink >rip keyboard I gues...oh wait....
>>107807784Is the keyboard part replaceable? Because I've never owned a keyboard that lasted more than 5-6 years before it starts shitting itself.
>>107807818Also what the hell is an "AI PC"?
>>107807784>Co-pilot button
>>107807866It uses Ryzen AI APUs
>>107807866>spill resistant So a sponge fest of a typing experience like all "water proof" keyboards are.. Nasty.
>>107807831stop jizzing all over your keyboard.I’ve been using the same dell rubberdome keyboard for going on 9 years now without any issues.
>>107807784Next gen desktop is something with no fans that will throttle to hell and back to avoid burning your hands and ending in lawsuits? I don't think so.
>>107807893Bro.. You connect a proper mechanical keyboard to it of course. A keyboard for your keyboard because I heard you like keyboards.
>>107807784>Now you can have all the disadvantages of a laptop with none of the benefits!
>>107807784So it's either gonna fry your fingers to charcoal or thermal throttle into oblivion. Or does it have screaming fucking fans blowing out from the sides/underneath?
>only has 2 (two) USB-C ports and that's it>jet engine laptop fankek "next generation"
>>107807866has an npu/apu in it.
>>107807951
>>107807928it's not intended for consumers. basically to replace company desktops, you're gonna hotseat with these things when your place of business is called a campus.
>>107807784Im really interested in these, im fuck sick of lugging laptops with a shitty screen ill never use around when traveling for work.>HP>"AI" PCguess ill keep waiting.
I get embedding pc into monitor so that you can just bring your own keyboard but embedding pc into keyboard doesn't make much sense. Also it probably gets pretty hot?
"Carbon Footprint Minimized" usually translates to shitty, short-lasting plastic
>>107808034the op is a fucking faggot and didn't link the article. should be a bannable offence, we expect a higher level of retard here on /g/. you can read the proposed usecase here yourself:https://www.theregister.com/2026/01/06/hp_keyboard_pc/
>>107807952Yes, you can download apu apustaja into it
>>107807784That's just a laptop without the screen. What a steal
>>107808214who needs a screen nowadays?just mirror the output on your phone
>>107808101unless it’s apple, where net zero carbon means aluminum and glass and industry leading software support lifespans.
>>107807784iTODDLERS BTFO
>>107808624based
>>107807784cool concept, just remove the crappy keyboard on top
just gonna lay it. the proliferation of ARM is something that a lot of people don't mention when talking about modern tech. imagine if this stuff was x86 instead
>>107807784It's a laptop without a screen. kek. what's it cost?
>>107807784so a laptop without a display.
>>107807784>>107807951ngl this is pretty cool
now 2 things to carry around
>>107807784>a computer inside a keyboardCould you imagine?
>>107810487>AD 2026>the c64 is backlmao
>>107807784>those tiny arrow keysI don't know who started it but I hate it so damn much.
>>107807784by the way this thing benches lower than the new iphone air
>>107810293>>107810322>>107808214You're supposed to use it with AR glasses
>>107810208imagine if you shat in a toilet instead
>>107810848That's still 2 things, tranny
>>107807784
>>107811224they have a mechanical one now
>>107807784This is dumb af. Just buy a mini pc and better keyboard at this point instead if this e-waste
>>107811990>e-wasteThe moment it gets out of the assembly line it's already e-waste, look at this shit
>PC integrated in keyboard:/>PC integrated in keyboard, Raspberry Pi:O
>>107807951You don't need a desk, simply use it to render video and it'll start hovering, how cool is that.
>>107812163Thank you anon for making me laugh.
>>107807784>Are you winning, son.
>>107807784>fn key>no F row >battery>less powerful than a fucking phoneinto the trash it goes, that's not a serious computer.>>107812581make it this size and but an actual computer inside instead of this abomination
>>107807784>>107811998>>107811990>>107812583I'd legitimately replace my mini PC with one if it had a ThinkPad keyboard (that was also repleaceable). I think Lenovo should just steal Dell's idea>>107810322so two halves of a laptop?
>>107812163the intake is on the bottom but the fans exhaust through the back. If anything it will start flying away if you work it too hard.
>>107807784That shit has a membrane right?LOL.
>>107812583>make it this size and but an actual computer inside instead of this abominationSomething like a framework powered diy thing or some super flat mini-itx contraption is the closest thing to that.
>>107807866>designed for retarded fat asses drinking 5 liters of canned diabetes a day at the computer
>>107807784>no integrated trackpadWasted opportunity desu
>>107811224I impulse bought one several years ago but I never found a use case for it. For portability a laptop is better; cheaper, more powerful and doesn't require microHDMI adapters to see things on a screen. For GPIO pins applications it's larger and more expensive than a typical raspberry pi and the keyboard is useless, unless you also have a monitor handy, even if you did, it's simpler to just control it via SSH.Maybe there's some use case as a purposefully limited main computer for kids so they don't waste time in javascript heavy social media pages while also giving them the platform to play with GPIO pin things, but I'm at least 7 years away from having children. Also nothing stopped me as a kid to waste time on movies and on CLI versions of social media on the very first Raspberry Pi model.
>>107807913kek zoomers will never know the joy of 2000's memes
>>107807784The mini pc market has way too much competition . Apple now has affordable options, and the gibberish Chinese brands even seem to be making inroads. Why not try a novelty form factor that appeals to idiots? If they can restrain their greed and price it appropriately, they'll sell millions of 'em.
>>107816882>Why not try a novelty form factor that appeals to idiots?Such as?Haven't they done everything at this point?
>>107807784Why do computer manufacturers insist on having these tiny unusable nav keys?If I ever meet the person who came up with this shit I will bash their head with a rock until their brains leak out.
>>107817532because real men use hjkl
>>107817742I don't even have nav keys on my keyboard but unusable nav keys that only waste space are stupid. It doesn't make people who like nav keys happy and it doesn't make anyone else happy either. It's just retarded.
>>107811998I was interested at first. But this picrel totally sums up why its bad.. No one wants an ai pc and those tiny arrow keys, its such a dealbreakerI seriously cannot wrap my head around how these companies that have so much money and resources where they can look at trends to see what people like and dont like and then go all the way toward the direction of what people dont like and think itll sell like gangbusters
>>107810487Those were built to a standard, I'm sure this new one is built to a price point
>>107817841yeah speccy and c64 were built to the highest standards possible, and totally not to be as cheap as humanly possible for the time
>>107807927I guess it's for the specific group of people who want the invisibility / desktop space of an iMac AND (at least some of) the portability of a laptop. It would be specifically for someone who wants to bring their computer to and from work without having a whole laptop take up desktop space.
>>107807784Wow such innovation.
>>107818369Actually, this is a real computer. Not a toy one, ok chud.
>>107810322What in the goddamn
>>107807784>lose video game>get mad>grug smash keyboard>lose pc They really didn't think this one through.
>>107811224Ew>>107816363I made my teen stand up the raspberry Debian os as his first computer on an rpi 3b.
>>107808172> The boss didn't do is job WHAT A DOLT!> good thing im smart enough to do the bosses work without his pay, heh, retards...And you claim the OP is a fag, tsk tsk anon
>>107807784>Copilot buttonno thanks
>>107807784>HP>laptop cooling in a chassis shittier than an ibook>mushy keyboardlollmao even
>mushy keyboardlike most people who would actually buy this even care. at this point dare i say HP has become worse than apple. at least a macbook's hinges dont break.
>>107807818Just don't spill your drink, you barbarian. How are they supposed to design tech if you are hellbent on destroying it?
>>107807784These have existed for a decade now.https://youtube.com/watch?v=vksDNN6YDbM&pp=ygUVVndlc3RsaWZlIGtleWJvYXJkIHBj
>>107807951If you're even interested in a "computer" like this, USB slots aren't your focus.
>>107807784>built in slop buttonThis is worse than a netflix button.
>>107807951Additional USB ports are provided by the monitor. The Steam Deck only has one USB-C and it's sufficient for desktop use with a good monitor.
Come home, white man
>>107807784>Next gen AI PC>Sustainable>laptop keyboard instead of desktop keyboardcertified slop
>>107822378Way too underpowered. Something to give a 10 year old as their first 'puter.
>>107820783>at least a macbook's hinges dont break.Instead the hinge pressure moves to the panel itself and you get a broken screen instead.
>>107820783See, that's where the genius of this product comes in. HP can't possibly fuck up the hinges if there's no hinges to fuck up.
