Midjourney just launched Niji V7. Today is the day that most animators will lose their jobs!Artists and developers are racing to see who will be holding a sign saying "will do X for food".https://x.com/midjourney/status/2009748519133827304
It's so fucking over. I don't even have words. This looks better than any other anime released last season.
>>107819090holy slop
>>107819113It looks better than most anime out there. I would be completely okay with AI slop if that means I won't have shit like picrel any more.
>>107819128i am gonna miss the jank of low budget low effort modern animation
>>107819090cool, cool. run through it one punch man season 3 and re-release it, please.
>>107819090I’m assuming the horrific compression is your fault. But if this is what the actual output is this is dead in the water.
>>107819197>horrific compression is your faultNigga, 4chan only accepts 4MB webm, you want me to perform a miracle?
>>107819128The problem with this shit has always been that they have minuscule budgets, they pay even more minuscule wages to artists and animators and shit ends up looking like this in the end, plus, these people most of the time blow their budgets in the first 3 or 4 episodes and they have to scramble to produce the rest of the show.I remember Yuri on ice producer or director coming to say that they blew their budget in the first episodes so the animation was shit on the latter ones.
>>107819781>they have minuscule budgetsFake and gay. Nips were doing shit like this with less than 1 million in the 90s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxzK4uYCUJwToday you have random isekeai with 2-10 million budget plus all the technology gains we had in like three decades and still looks shit. Things degenerate with time if there aren't talented people around to keep the bar high. Nigga, attack on titan had like 30 million dollars in budget and it still looked terrible. The problem isn't "minuscule budget" but lack of talent. Artists are horrible nowadays and that's why they're being replaced with "souless" AI slop. Better have AI slop that at least has some care rather than "hand crafted" crap like >>107819128
>>107819781Say what you want habibi, I can't cope anymore.
30y ago it was hard and expensive to get your music produced and distributed. This got 'democratized' and now it's easy and cheap.Alas this is also apparent in the quality of the music released nowadays I'm afraid.I'm also afraid the same effect will be shown with the advent of AI animation and movies. Cheap production will result in cheap releases. Just pump out more slop to increase the return on investment.AI is not bad per se, it's the economy that is broken.
>>107819155Not ai, thats from the actual show, season 3
>>107822000never said it was ai, i said it was low effort low budget jank
Yeah. Go and fire all your animators. We won't be charging you (yet)
>>107819053Let's not forget the reality here. This is not AI vs people, this is people with superior solutions against people with inferior solutions, and the end user actively rejecting the obtion that's less profitable to him.
>>107819053they should focus on tattoos
>>107819053I can't read japanese. What is he singing?
>>107822119People who get tattoos are trash and cringe.
>>107822146I KNOW!but it's a growing business and to avoid starvation artists should focus on that
>>107821085>it's the economy that is brokenSchizo take.Supply and demand. New Avatar got like $390 million opening. It's all about who is willing and able to pay for your anime. That is who you target. That is who, therefore, determines the quality of your product. If the normie didn't pay for slop, the slop wouldn't be produced.
>>107822143Bumping for this.
>>107822146>People who get tattoos are trash and cringe. Not quite. They're actually R-strategists. Something you would do well to consider.Critical exploration of the subject:youtu.be/zt0sa5u6ZIE
>>107822143Bump. Desperate to know what they're saying.
>>107819053We need an updated version of ShiroBako but now with AI generated animation with the theme of how animators cope with AI tools getting available.
>>107822116let's get rid of all the pesky artists then, since humans and creative expression are unprofitable.no more producing your own art for other people to enjoy, just go to work and consume the slop in your free time.
>>107822291He didn't say that. Artists just have to adapt to the new tools to create art without the tons of manual labor.
>>107822291That's not what I said. If they get filtered, they get filtered. I enjoy art, and so far there isn't anything in AI for me, but if there ever is, you'll have to give me a very good reason to choose the trad art people over the ai art people.
>>107822324>He didn't say that.I'm taking it to it's natural conclusion. If the plot is AI generated and the visuals are AI generated then there is no human creative input in any step of the process.>new tools to create artWhat are you talking about? If it's AI generated it's not art.
>>107822351>AI generated is not art
>>107822351Whyat?!?! AI art generator software is a high level art tool, no? And creative input is still needed since the tool does only generate the visuals and nothing else that is of high quality, yet. Let me guess, you're also against cg being used in anime. I kind of agree if the original GitS and GitS2 innocence is the basis of that opinion since 2 sucked dick in comparison. The sad truth is that traditional animation techniques are working the animators to their bones with busywork that noone is willing to pay for anymore. It's sad but we'll always have old Ghibli anime and similar to watch and marvel at the monumental amount of work done by the team to create masterpieces.I think Akira will eat AI slop for quite a while more in terms of quality and sovl.
>MidjourneyIs this still a thing?
Test
>>107822977>creative input is still needed since the tool does only generate the visualsIf it's partially art and partially slop, it's still slop. I'm not drinking a milkshake if it has 20% diarrhea in it.>Let me guess, you're also against cg being used in animeNot at all, it's a tool that has a predictable output, just like a piano has a predictable output when you play a sequence of notes on it. The problem with AI is its a black box that makes its own input and you end up with fake "art". AI is not a tool to help a user make creative input, it really just replaces the creative input entirely, only guided vaguely by a prompt.
>>107823369Fair point. I guess the current situation should make "artisinal" art more valuable after people get fed up with the kind of overly clean output that AI tools can deliver. I still have to admit that these Ghibli image converters are impressive in their capability to convert photos into Ghibli style images. They still leave a bad taste in my mouth but it's still impressive.
>>107819090This shit looks so ass and boring
